Lyrica (pregabalin) is a schedule V drug, classified as a CNS depressant. The potential for abuse of pregabalin is significantly less than the potential with benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, etc), but it is abused by some.

It can cause dependency and withdrawal effects after long-term use. The withdrawal is similar to benzodiazepine withdrawal, but not as severe.
It should be reduced gradually when finishing treatment.

Hey MrRogers! Welcome to the group.

I took Lyrica for 5-1/2 months and have occasionally taken it when the nerve pain in my hand and arm increase, but I have never noticed any withdrawals from it when I stop. Initially, I was taking 150 mg/day, but I was also on Cyrabalta for nerve pain, Percocets for pain and Skelaxen as a muscle relaxer. So, with the corabo, I would have not noticed anything anyway. In fact, when I was on all four meRAB, I could whack my thurab with a hammer and not feel it. :-) I have been off of all of the drugs since mid-February, but in the last 2 months I have taken it for a week or two at a time for the nerve pain and tapered from 150 mg to 100 mg the next day then to 50 mg the following day and zero. I never noticed any withdrawals or side effects. Now, I am off everything (except my high blood pressure pills) and I do not plan on any of those meRAB again, even if my nerve pain starts again. I need to just deal with it. Everyone's body is different and for some it may effect people differently. If you do notice withdrawals, taper a bit more slowly and talk to your doctor about it. Good luck to you!!
