Lurking Noob!

I've been lurking around this forum for the past couple days because my Cricket phone completely died on me ... and somehow my battery disappeared. I've heard of flashing before and aquired an LG VX8500 from a friend for free.

I did get my ESN, MID/MDN, PRL and SID before my phone quit. I have downloaded Bitpim, LG Download, PST [not working], CDMA workshop, Hex workshop along with some others. I have the phone to PC USB cable and a friend that works at Cricket.

Now onto my questions ...

- What exactly do I need to load onto the Chocolate as far as software?
Cricket software (PRL file?) ... or do I just need to modify the parameter's in the Chocolate?

- I've been to Humpa's site and noticed a bunch of DLL's like the theme's and whatnot ... would I be able to format those to my phone before I flashed to Cricket?

- The chocolate has an MEID ... do I need to do anything with that, or will Cricket overwrite it with my current ESN?

- Should I just follow the How-To: VX9900 and just use the 8500.dll?

I'm sure I'll have more questions ... I've been without a phone for two days and its driving me insane :help:

So thanks in advance

You just write the Cricket PRL to the phone, that will make the phone recognize Cricket's service. Then if you want Picture Messaging and Internet you follow the vx9900 tutorial, using either the 8500 dll or 9900 dll.

As far the MEID/ESN thing goes, all you have to do is give the MEID Dec to them (if you call them) and they'll add the $15 charge to your bill. PM me if you want more help.

Alright, I have the phone flashed to Cricket. I took it into a retailer to get it converted and the dude said he needed two nurabers ... my phone only listed the MEID Hex and the pESN Hex. He tried them both with no luck. So now I'm back home.

I used this thread (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1433623 ) and an online calculator to determine the Decimals of the Hex's. Now I have both Hex and Decimal of my MEID and my pESN. Which one do I give to the dude to register my phone for use?

Do I need to *228 my phone after he register's it?

Thanks again guys

I called customer service and tried to have it activated over the phone. He asked for an ESN and I told him I had an MEID [Hex] and he took that and said it wasn't the right thing he needed. I then gave him the pESN [Hex]. He verified it with me, went through the whole WAP and MMS may not work and told me to *228 it. OTA's not working ... I get like a split second of elevator music and it says my phone cannot be programmed.

What do I do? :crying:

Also, my MDN/MIN remained the same after the flash. Do I need to manually edit these in NV Edit?

So did they do the esn change for you?
The meid you should've have them should start by 26843000000 etc.
You need to manually programm the mdn n min by entering the nam programmin
Which is menu 0 or * and then 6 zeros

Actually, after a bit of reflection, he accepted the Hex pESN. He apparently did the ESN change, we'll see if I have $15 added onto my bill or not.

I accessed my phone via LG Download and edited my MIN/MDN ... what sucks is that my old phone is completely dead and I've misplaced the paper with the actual MIN, which was completely different than my MDN. I now get a beep beep beep as if someone hung up on me and I stayed on the line too long.

I read that I can call customer service and ask for my MDN, any truth to that?

*EDIT*
I called Cricket again to get my MDN, which they did without hesitation. I then asked if I could get the ESN to verify that its the one I gave the guy I talked to earlier. Sure enough it was some nuraber I'd never heard before. I gave her my pESN again, just like the prior guy. She said I had to go into a store so they could pull off my serial nuraber because I don't have the right one or something.

I have:
MEID Hex [14 Digits]
Decimal [17 Digits]

pESN Hex [8 Digits]
Decimal [10 Digits]

... Am I missing something? SID or something?

Look yourr confusing me.
Pm me yourr meid on the back of the phone should be a000001232 somethin like that, n ill give you the correct meid dec you need to give them, get me yourr mdn and ill give you yourr min

Thanks Mr. Cricket for your help.

Now I have a less important question, but one none-the-less.

On Humpa's site, there are files for theme's for the 8500's. Am I able to use those with my phone flashed over to cricket or will it cause problems or just not work?
