Lump on Inner Thigh

Hi,

I'm a 24 year old female and I've had a small (quarter-sized) lump on my inner thigh...about 2 inches from my underwear line. I don't think that it is an ingrown hair/pimple/or boil because it feels as though it is deeper inside the skin and there is no head (like there are on pimples). I tried taking ibuprofen and using a heating pad and it seemed to go away or at least shrink until about 3 days ago when I was showering and noticed that it feels even bigger than before and is very painful. I am getting really nervous and I am calling my doctor in the morning but I was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this before? Please let me know! Thanks!

Hey sweetie,
I had that happen to me when I was in my early 30's. I know I'm not spelling this right but, mine was an inguinial hernia. It is rare for a woman to have this. I am sure your doctor will refer you to a surgeon. Let me know what they say. I had to push, like when you are having a bowel movement, for the diagnosis. It will bulge some when you do that. I had my husband to do that so I could see if I noticed anything bulging on him, and guess what, he had to have double hernia surgery. Very painful because it is a tender area.
Take care!!

I just had double inguinal surgery this past November... however, mine was not on the inner thigh area and was more in the lower abdominal/groin area. Usually the hernias near the thigh are femoral hernias. Do a little bit of a search on this online to see if you happen to have any of the symptoms and if it looks like a possibility. For me, even with a small hernia, they were still larger than a quarter size.

If this doesn't seem like what you have, it's very possible that it may be a cyst. Cysts can be harmless, but still cause a lot of discomfort. They may grow in size, shrink one day, come back, etc. I know my mom had one on her back that was very painful and she was able to have it drained.

It would be best to ask your doctor about it so you can definitely determine what it is and get it taken care of so it won't bother you anymore. Most likely, it isn't anything too serious. Hernias can get serious if left alone and they worsen, but I'm not sure if this is what you have.
