Lump / bump on back right side of tongue

I've got some sort of bump/lump on the back right side of my tongue. The lump/bump isn't hard. It almost feels as though I've bitten the side of my tongue, but I think that bump/lump is too far back for me to have bitten it. Naturally, I'm terrified that it could be cancer. I'm not asking for a disgnosis, just asking if anyone has experienced this, and if so, what was it (in YOUR case)? Also, should I see my dentist or GP first? I think I have to have a referral to an oral surgeon, and I know I have to have one to get into an ENT. Thanks!!!
 
Anyone??????

I went back to the doc today. The thing is still there. Still looks the same. No bleeding or pain tho. The doc is referring me to an ENT, and says I'll probably wind up with a biopsy. :(

Has anyone out there experienced this?
