Has anyone been told by their doctor that LPR/GERD can be caused by stress? I find that no matter how closely I follow the LPR diet, if I'm stressed my voice is hoarse and my throat feels tight. This summer has been extremely stressful for my family and I felt the LPR symptoms daily. When we went on vacation I was eating pretty much whatever I wanted (chocolate, margaritas, ice cream late at night) and had almost no symptoms. Go figure...

Also, if, for example, you eat something "bad" on Monday afternoon, will you feel the effects of it right away or the next day? Then how long will the effects of that one food last? I'm taking Nexuim 40 mg 2X/day, but symptoms aren't gone. I'm afraid to eat anything.

Would a "happy pill" like Welbutrin etc help with LPR?

Thanks.

I am trying to figure this very thing out too. I kind of thought I was all better. So I let my diet slip a little. I have treated myself to a coke, some M and M's and a burger here and there. Today I had two caffeine drinks. Now I feel my throat tightening up this afternoon. I can just tell the reflux starts acting up. My tummy gets a little nauseated. Right now I feel like I will have to eat and drink so strict that I can't even sneak something fun without paying the price. I just popped a prilosec. Does anyone else feel like this?

I truly think the way our bodies, which are all different, handle stress and inflammation are the causes of all diseases. Stress can kill ya!
