Have LPR & have noticed that my stomach "discomfort", particularly at night, causes me to have hot flushes. Anybody else? I am in menopause also but have noticed it definately starts when I change positions & feel discomfort from my stomach & acid moving up. Happens the most when my tummy/acid is acting up more.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hi, i'm new here but i just thought i'd throw in my two cents.....I have Cronic Gastritis and I have noticed lying down after eating causes alot of chest pain and stomach pain, So i try to avoid eating before meals and also coffee, pop, spicy fooRAB really work me over i started eating bran cerial and seems to help a little but i also am on 80mgs of nexium a day but it does not work if i eat, or drink certain things...hope maybe this might help a little....take care and good luck..

Thank you for your response.

Do you mind listing the symptoms of your gastritis problem. I'm beginning to wonder if that is an issue for me as well. I do get burning stomach (different degrees) on & off & ALOT of bloating, etc. I watch what I eat (cut out coffee, alcohol, glutens, mint, chocolate...limit tomatoes, etc), don't eat 3-4 hrs before bed, raised the bed 6" or more, etc. & still feel the acid in my throat at night to some degree. I'm not sure what more I can do at this point & the Nexium doesn't control the symptoms 100%. I also take a Zantac at bedtime. Seems lately as soon as I lay down, I feel the acid creeping up to the throat. I've been on many different PPI's for 8 mos. with no complete relief (as the doc said I should get). I've not had any further testing other than the original endoscopic exam. I am presently looking for another doc who understanRAB the LPR somewhat...at this point I feel I'm on my own for figuring out my treatment...this doc seems frustrated & arrogant. Thank you for your response & understanding. I appreciate your support.

Hi Peg, Mine started after back surgery, three weeks to be exact..chest burning, sometimes left chest pain, heart racing, hot flashes...which sent me to the hospital a few times thinking i was having a heart attack...after my heart had been ruled out my doctor started me on nexium which was followed by a barium swallow x-ray...and a scoup of my stomach....the nexium hasen't really helped to much as of late and i always feel there missing something but i take pepto-bismol and gavisgone it does help somewhat...i know it is very upsetting when they act like your making a mountain out of a mole hill but if they had to live with this they would understand how scarey and frustrating this can be..take care i hope this helps you a little if you need to talk i'm here...god bless
