Lowering the Street Glide

I am 5'8". I've got a 2010 RGC. I bought the 2011 seat and it is a good bit thinner at the tank. As well as a little more of a cup to sit in. It is a little lower. If your gonna look at lowering the bike you might also want to consider a good set of air shocks like Arnotts. Raise and lower the bike on the fly. Not cheap but worth every penny if you need it really low. You can slam it to the ground when you come to a stop and raise it up when your riding. it'll hit 10.5-11.5" easily. You will definitely be flat footed.

By the way... if you are going to get the 2011 seat go with Zanotti's. I think they are $158 there. They don't have them right now. HD is back-ordered on them. I called a dealer and had them do a part search to see which dealers in the US had them in stock. At the time (2 weeks ago), there were only 3 that had one in stock in the entire east (from Canada down). 2 in Florida and one in New Hampshire. I called the New Hampshire dealership and had them ship it to the house. It was 179$ which is MSRP if i am not mistaken. Both Florida sites (Seminole and some other) both wanted $199 for the seat. Nothing like mark-ups!

Best of luck!

I went with the 1" lowering block, no loss in shock travel.

I went with the 2010 CVO SG seat, this got me 1" lower, plus very nice for me and the wife.

But you have to notch the bottom of the sissy bar at the front shock mounts.
It hits the top of the shock when the suspension compresses and limits travel.

The 2009-up touring bikes have more tire to fender clearance, about 1".

The ride is a little firmer, which I like, 25# in the shocks.

Wow, thanks for all the great ideas. Right now I am leaning towards buying a 2011 SG seat. I sat on one and it made a HUGE difference. Another huge problem I have is my legs are over 30" around, so........there you go. Loving the new SG, except when I come up to a stop light. Any other seats that take you down lower, and are more comfortable for the passenger?

I'm 5'7" and wear boots with tall heels. Helps a lot. I'm flatfooted and my knees are actually bent a bit. With sneakers I'm on my tip toes.

If you want a lowering seat that is good for the passenger also, go for the 2010 CVO seat. I have it and I love it. Much lower and way more comfortable.

I have not seen the 2011 CVO seat.
