lower unit oil for yamaha f60?

is it ok to use quicksilver synthetic oil in my yamaha f60? after i pumped it in I read that it was specialy formulated for mercury motors.
 
Hi by the lower unit do you mean the gearbox if so we only use 90 grade mineral oil, in all Yam
gearboxs. I would not use a synthetic or a semi synthetic, But if the grade is right it should be ok.
We race big Yams with only diesel in the box.but in is taken out after every race and oil put back.
