I am a 24 yr old male. I am pretty active. I have had leg pain worsening for more than 2 weeks now. I have been put on IBU 600mg twice a day. The pain meds aren't helping at all and it is becoming difficult to sleep. It's kind of a dull achy pain. The pain worsens when I am in not load bearring positions..(laying down and sitting).

I have had a general tib/fib x-ray which was negative and a bone scan done which was also negative. I am thinking the problem may be more vascular because of the positional issues.

Any suggestions? I am going to talk to my doctor and try to get a venogram ordered or an ultrasound. thanks!

Where about is the pain? High near the knee, low near the ankle, the front, side, back? Is there a spot you can touch and it hurts? Or is it kind of nebulous? In the muscles or the bone?

In other words, can you try to pinpoint the place where it hurts so those of us with lots of bone and joint problems can offer advice.

it's pretty much my whole lower leg... tib/fib.

It's not in the bone b/c of the negative bone scan and x-ray... so it has to be soft tissue or vascular...

btw i am an x-ray tech...

Have you had your lower back checked to see if it could be a herniated disk pressing on the nerves to the lower leg? If you can find a Dermatome Chart on-line, you can see where the nerves affect. Might be an possibility as it is the one thing that causes pain in such a large area that is so diffuse. Back injuries don't always cause pain in the back...I know..been there.
