Have you seen a physician for this problem? Have you had any imaging done such as a CT scan, or MRI? How long have you had this pain? Sometimes a chiropractor is appropriate for some back issues, and with other issues it is important to see a neurosurgeon OR an orthopedic spine surgeon. These two specialties overlap quite a lot. Depending on the problem, some people prefer a neurosurgeon while others prefer an orthopedic spine surgeon....often just a matter of preference. (An ortho spine specialist is not the same as an orthopedic doctor who is a generalist, or who does joint replacements, sets bones, etc. The ortho spine doc has a residency in orthopedics and then has specialized training in the back and neck...a fellowship that lasts one to two more years.)
