lower back pain

my husband twisted his back today and he can barely walk. I have tired messaging him and heating his back with towels.......what can I do to loosen up the area.
any help.....please.....
 
Have him take motrin/aleve/advil for inflammation around the clock. I would also use ice versus heat the first couple of days.

If the pain worsens or continues past one week, I would have him checked out by the family doctor.
