20 years ago I had roRAB and a fusion done at T11 to L1 and have had no problems to talk about besides a little reduced feeling in the lower back area. The last few months how ever a few times I have experienced pain in my lower back. It is not continuous and will last about a week at time. At times it graps me an I will have a hard time standing up and it seems to be more on the left side and affect that leg more. Is this some thing I should see about seeing it does not trouble me continuously?

It could be simple muscle strain or the normal effects we all feel as we get a little older. But it could also be that the unfused vertebrae below your fusion have been taking extra stress all these years to make up for what the fused segments can no longer do, and they're finally rebelling. Unfortunately, sometimes vertebrae above or below a fusion end up having problems because of the increased stress they have to take. I would go ahead and have it checked out. If you start having more pain down the road, you'll have a trail of tests to show the progression. Quite a few other posters from Canada have said that nationalized health care like you have there means it takes a lot longer to get in to see a specialist, so I think if it were me, I'd get the ball rolling. If you get in quickly, great! If it's going to take a while, you might already be worse by then, anyway, and you'll be glad you have an appt on the books.

I hope you get some satisfactory answers.

Take care,
Emily

Go to your doctor and ask for a referral to get xrays/scan done, this will firstly show if anything has changed at the site of the previous fusion. You know your own body and if this has only recently started up then get some tests done to rule out a mechanical problem. Good luck and I hope all goes well.
