Lower back pain

I am 26 and started to get lower back pain about three weeks ago, off and on. I wasn't lifting anything heavy or anything, it just started out of nowhere. It hurts to reach for my toes, but the pain is manageable. My question for anyone is: where should I go to get this checked out? Obviously I should see a doctor, but I don't have insurance. Should I go to urgent care, a hospital, some kind of specialist, or a general practitioner? Any suggestions?

I would recommend seeing a Neurosurgeon and having a MRI. I have had back problems for years and I regret not getting it checked out sooner. Take care.

In younger adults, the most common cause of lower back pain is a muscle problem. But you should get it checked out to make sure and to get some guidance on recovery. A family doctor, preferably one that comes recommended by someone you know, would probably be a good place to start. Urgent care can be a bit... variable in quality. They're a good place to get a prescription for penicillin, maybe not the best place to get a diagnosis.

Consider buying a reverse hyperextension machine. It's a low back rehab/strength machine for anyone. Lots of big time lifters use it. I used it and I went from hardly being able to walk to beating the best deadlifters in the country in a strongman show a few months later. Just read about it, it's the best thing I've ever bought. It's not just for lifters, it's for anybody sick of back pain.
