I get lower back pains when I do sit ups and crunches. Will using an Ab Lounge make it easier for my back if I want to get a 6 pack?

the problem is not your form but muscle weakness in your abdominals. when the abs are not strong enough to move the spine the opposing muscle in the lower back (the erector spinae) is called upon to assist in the movement.

you need to increase the strength in your hips and abs and lower back at the same time and not just focus on the abdominals.

abdominal training only strengthens the abs if your goal is to have a 6-pack that is a direct function of your diet. to see the 6-pack muscle you need only have lower than average body fat, abdominal training is not even neccessary. for males the body fat % needs to be close to 10% and femals 20%. you need to follow a high protein low GI diet to lose body fat.

the ab lounge is expensive! try an exercise ball first. they are about $10 and have the same effect.

yea it will make it easier, because if you are having pain then that means you are doing them wrong and you are straining/putting a lot of pressure on your lower back. ab lounder will help that

a way to fix your problem on the floor if you wanna give it a try is to be in a hollow position when you do it. that means that you have to lay down on the floor, and you know how when you do that your back arches and there is a space between your back and the floor?? well to correct that, you have to curve your spine toward the floor so that there is no space. a way to test if you have achieved that is if you can fit your hand under your back, then you're doing it wrong. from there dont let your back arch again and continue doing the regular crunches /situps
