Low potassium

Low Sodium V-8 Juice helped my potassium level to return to normal. I was not on potassium medication at the time.

Remember, getting too much potassium is also bad for your health, need to keep a balance, keep it checked.

I do not like for my potassium level to go below 3 or higher than 5.

I've tried all sorts of high potassium veggies and fruits but had to resort to the pills to keep it up. I'm usually close to 3 and have gone lower several times. I take at least 20meqs. a day and sometimes 40meqs. if my blood pressure is up. I find my high blood pressure stays very even if my potassium is good and it going up is a clue that I need more. And needless to say, I get lots of blood tests for it as well.

If you do a search, you can get lists of foods that are high in potassium and how much you get in each serving.

Sweet Potatoes, strawberries, yogurt, cantaloupe, honeydew melons and orange juice all contain potassium along with the true standby of a banana a day.
Once you potassium is low, it is very hard to get it back to normal without taking a supplement, once you have a normal potassium level, try to keep it normal by eating the correct foods.
Are you one a diuretic for blood pressure control? That is most likely what is lowering your potassium, which I am sure you already know. If you can eat bananas without any stomach upset, then try to have a banana a day and see if you can maintain a normal level.
