I'm a 46 year old man, 5 9', 183 lb and exercise 3 times a week on average.
I'm what you call a social drinker (3 drinks at max / month) but do smoke an average of 1/2 pack per day. I do eat a fairly balanced diet with lots of grains and vegetable, but do eat meat frequently too.
I feel perfectly fine and still can maintain the same rhythm of exercise as I use to when I was 30.

Just had a blood tests and the results seem most within the normal range except for:

HDL 36 mg/dl (low)
LDL 160 mg/dl (high)
Triglycerides 110 mg/dl (normal)

I'm a bit perplexed, mainly at my (normal) level of Triglycerides.
Shouldn't it parallel my LDL level and be high too?!

With my LDL being at 160 ( normal should be < 130) do I fall within the basket of heart attack subjects?!

Are there some hidden concerns likes of (hereditary issues since my father passed away from a heart attack) I should be concerned about?!
What would you recommend (beside dropping that cancer stick for good?!)

Appreciate some valuable advices.

Thanking you all in advance.

You didn't say what your total Cholesterol was?? HDL-good helps to control your bad-LDL cholesterol level.........so watch your diet closely. Also....exercise will help to increase your HDL which helps your LDL........so increase your exercise to 5x's/wk. If you have a family history of heart disease.....follow up with your physician on a regular basis.........should your nurabers start rising.......they can order medication to keep it down. Good luck !!
