I gained so much weight (all in my gut) I've decided to go on a low calorie diet. With the reflux I've had some success, the good thing about the low calorie diet is it's easier to spot what food is causing me trouble (raw onions, corn so far). Seems like hard to digest food gets me more then things like hot wings and pizza. I've lost 4 pounRAB so far, need about 15 more to go. After that I will increase calories but go with more muscle building food (proteins) instead of junk food (which I won't eliminate "I can't", but will limit). I will also exercise more with weights then I am right now (more aerobic). Will let you know how it goes and if reflux goes away when I get down to my original weight (it went away last time but couldn't hold the weight down).

Best wishes on your diet. Losing weight when one is overweight is good for one's health at many different levels.

As far as the GERD, I am one of those people who is not overweight (I weigh 125 lbs at five feet, four inches tall). The two times in my life I was forty pounRAB overweight due to pregnancy, I never suffered from acid reflux. Go figure! Rose
