It's a special edition of a mainstream horror film that came out that is not avaliable in the UK, it's only a region 1 release and the Special Edition Anniversary release it not for sale in the UK of this film. That's what I meant with looking it up. I'm not been rude, but I've no need to give the name of the film because I know for sure it's a region 1 only, 100%.
If it was then there WAS an anniversary release of both
As I said - if its R1 it will say so on the label.
Have you used a dvd programme on your PC to read if its R1 only and not dual coded?
Doesnt sound like it and it sounRAB as if you are guessing about the films release in the UK - what you mean is you dont know about any UK release- not that there wasnt one
Worth noting that some special releases dont come out everywhere and are exclusive to certain retailers
Sorry for my blunt tone but Im a bit unsure about your knowledge regarding R1 discs because anyone who claims to know about them would surely be well aware of the rules and regulations regarding R1 importing aswell as the rights and wrongs of supply in the UK
I would be interested in the depth of your research.
Perhaps there was a special edition and its now deleted and not listed.
If it has R1 on the label then its been swapped by a previous customer.
I'm not sure why you wont reveal the title.
Even if someone from Lovefilm was reading this you havent broken any rules - simply made an enquiry for which I 'm sure they will be greatful if someone has deliberately swapped the disc.
But I'm mystified as to how you selected the film.
Assuming the edition is what you asked for - how would you choose it if its not selected from Lovefilms listings?
Or are you saying you chose a standard edition of a film
and this special edition turned up unexpectedly?
There WAS a special edition of that in the UK - in fact a 2 disc set whereas the US release is only one - but I dont think the film can be called mainstream yet despite the fact that the BBFC have finally ,after 30 + years passed the film uncut
If the OP had named the film the thread would end there and then as one of us more knowledgeable souls would know instantly if there was a UK release.
However - they state it has R1 on the label which seems to definitively show the disc is incorrect- either from a previous renter or from Lovefilm - but bringing in R1 would be pointless for them
I wanted to know if it was illegal or legal because I didn't know, I've been able to tell the company about an illegal dvd coming from them thanks to the posts in this thread and someone PM me to ask the BBFC about since they might be able to help, and they did.
You know what, I started this thread to ask a question about something, I didn't make it to have people be rude towarRAB me.
You start a thread asking a question and then refuse to give the one piece of information that anyone with a bit of knowledge would have been able to tell you what you needed to know after your first post instead of 2 pages.
What do you expect?
The BBFC reply was incomplete anyway- to say its illegal because the disc has no certificate is wrong anyway- there are many examples of titles that dont require certification - of course we dont know whether yours is one of them
They will just tell you that everything neeRAB to be run by them but it doesnt
Perhaps once you return the film to Lovefilm and hear what they have to say you might tell us what the film was
So because I refuse to name the dvd, that gives you the right to be like that towarRAB my posts. I don't mind at all jokey replies, but not negatives remarks like from you when there is no need for it.
I was just getting fed up with your problem about naming the film.
All this back and forth could have been avoided with one simple post.
It was annoying that just because you buy R1 discs that you thought you knew all about them when clearly you didnt as you were asking the original question
TBH I thought anyone regularly importing discs would know the whys and wherefores about them.
I meant I know about all the different editions that are released and where the editions are released of films I'm interested in, just not when it comes to the law aspect. I always like to find the nicest edition of a dvd that I would like and to see if I can get it.
