Lovefilm Or Blockbusters

I returned to Lovefilm yesterday(1 disc unlimited).Havent had rentals for a long time though.Thought id finally start watching some blu rays since my player has been sitting their for coming up to 1 year without one being watched:o

I had blockbuster too many moons ago.Trouble with these rental things is that you never get anywhere near your top of list for the best part. You just have to wait it out.
I remember when i was in BB.they never had any of my top 25 for ages and they werent all new dvRAB either.

Had a awful experience with Lovefilm, firstly they said I already had the free rental service they provide when you first register (which I never) then they charged me twice for one month, also they sent me DVD's I didn't want.
Then they got a bit arsey saying I never returned said unwanted DVD.

And even though I closed my account six months ago, still get emails and junk mail asking me to be a customer. Not happening.

Oh i love my Blockbuster..I go there and brouse round..watched 66 films and one for tonight ( so be 67 rented films from there), I bet they love seeing me :D

I have been with Tesco LoveFilm for a couple of years now and I have never had any problems with the service, cancelling an account is easy and you can also take a 'holiday' from the service. I get the films very quick, if I send a film in the last post, they dispatch a new film the next day and I get it the day after.
I am annoyed with the problems with Universal so I might have to watch those films online but I think

What's the deal with films coming out to buy a few weeks before they are available to rent? Predators has gone off my list and now says it is released on November 22nd, and the same has happened with Nightmare on Elm Street and Inception (out to buy a month before you can rent). Is this just LoveFilm, or is it the same with Blockbuster?

It's Blockbusters too on some films. I have been wondering that too, some films out to buy before rental... But, Blockbusters anyway, get some films for rent before the shops sometimes.

Predators however it out to rent on blockbusters, don't have to wait until the 22nd of November...

It used to the other way around in the '90s. Most films were released on rental video about 6 months before they were available to buy in shops.

Blockbuster all the way... the staff in particular are great.. nice, charming, hanRABome. Some would even call us.. I mean them.. the stuRAB of retail.

>> Thank you for your email. We do apologise for any confusion.

There are different licences required to sell or rent new releases and all licences need to be agreed with the studio. In this case, the licence for all online DVD rental begins 28 days after the retail release date. The good news is that, due to the nature of our arrangement, we are able to buy larger volumes of this title, so we

Predators is available to rent in blockbuster stores and indi video shops.

The industry is greedy and stupid.

Warners probably signed a special deal with sky to allow VOD on the same day as rental stores get the films but online renters have to wait a month, universal are owned by a company called viacom that own blockbuster so lovefilm wont be getting their films to rent ever, fox is owned by Murdoch, but i have not found out yet why they have withheld thier titles online for a month, maybe to boost retail figures as the big distributors dont care about rental since they switched to rental and retail on the same day about ten years ago.

if i find out more i'll keep you posted :)

I've been with both and would say Blockbuster is better in that there turnaround time is a lot quicker and Blockbuster send you tolkens which you can print off and use in store. They also seem to have more stock of newer films available.
