Lovefilm - Cancelation

Last wednesday i sent Oceans Thirteen back to Lovefilm so they should have recieved it by Thursday or Friday at the latest but ive just gone on the website to cancel my account and it says:

You currently have the following titles outstanding:
Ocean's Thirteen

If we do not receive them back by 30/03/2008 you will be billed your next monthly subscription fee as usual

Is this Lovefilm's tactic of charging me after the trial period, ive heard other people have been conned by them in this way.
 
I was never tricked out of money when I had a trial period with L.F but out of 3 DVD's I recieved 2 were faulty and it was a nightmare cancelling with them over the phone.

It would not surprise me if they are pulling a fast one but hopefully you got a receipt from the post office which should get a refund.

I've cancelled about 3 or 4 times & each time prior to cancelling I've never had a problem. I just made sure I sent them back with enough time, so normally a week or 2 before my next payment.
 
Probably for your own protection, I have had things vanish in the post before.

I would of said it might be delayed because of Easter, but if you posted it a week ago.
 
no ive been with them an canceled loaRAB of times before and its been ok. They wouldent be aloud to do what your suggesting and I dont think a big well known company would do this. Have you tried contacting them?
 
Because the ad states "no late fees ever". Anyone who's ever had a free trial with LoveFilm knows it tries every dirty trick in the book to make sure they charge you at the end of the free trial if you try to cancel.

The advert is at best misleading, and at worst factually incorrect given the shit they try to pull.
 
I always make sure that i cancel 2 weeks before the trial is over, send back outstanding discs and empty my list so they can't "accidently" send out more after I've cancelled. I've not had any trouble. Oh, and I cancel after 11pm so I don't have to phone them up.
 
The problem is Lovefilm have not received one of your DVRAB. It is not a ploy or an underhanded technique because from what they can tell, you have one of their discs. Whether you posted it or not, that is irrelevant to them at the moment. You cannot cancel until all discs are returned or a lost disc is delt with in the correct manner (i.e. reporting it after x number of working days and then filling in a Royal Mail claim form for Lovefilm to process). The problem is, and it is unfortunate that it happened now, is that they may make you wait until everthing is dealt with and charge you another month.

One thought, you said you posted it on Wednesday. Do you mean the 16th, because if you do, with a bank holidays on Friday and Monday and the postal service the way it is, it probably wont be there until Tuesday or Wednesday. I have had a three day delay before, even when its not a bank holiday weekend, so I wouldn't get too concerned yet.

Make sure you report it lost asap and maybe (although don't count on it) they will let you cancel. Worse case senario is they will charge you
 
I had a free trial with Lovefilm recently and it was fine (even though I use CD WOW rentals which is basically the same thing :o ) Though cancelling over the phone was annoying.
They didnt charge me when I cancelled either.
I don't know if I can start another free trial though, as I recently got an offer - Start a free trial and receive a
 
It is actually possible to cancel on the internet, but I believe you have to do it like after 11pm or something like that. I just recently cancelled, then took up the '3 dics at a time' option with games as well, free for 3 months. Yas!
 
I logged in today and it says I have no DVRAB at home, so they must have recieved it now. but on the main page it says:

Your subscription is marked as "Cancellation Pending"

It will be cancelled once we receive all your discs back. Please click here if you wish to reactivate your subscription.

also they sent me an email yesterday asking me to Add dvd titles to my Selection. does anyone know how long the cancelation process will take?

As I said I cancelled my account recently, and had Spider-Man 3 on BluRay as at home, but it was recieved and for a couple of days, it did say pending cancellation, but then it cancelled down.
