Has anyone in here had any dealings with a debt collection company called C.A.R.S they do the dirty work for Lovefilm.

A year past March I cancelled my account with Lovefilm because of poor deliverys, I posted back my last film to them and thought that would be the end of that, at the weekend I received an letter from this C.A.R.S saying I was due

You cannot deny the quantity of disgruntled customers lovefilm has is on the increase. Their service is terrible and getting worse every week, in the long run it will affect them when members cancel.

I have praised Blockbuster on numerous occassions as they are cleary superior to LF.

Do you see any other online rental companies on here with as many unhappy subscribers?

There are so many other online DVD rental companies out there, why would so many of us put LF's head on the chopping block if it wasn't for the fact that they are not providing us the service we expect.

My son e-mailed the CEO over the week-end and all the other people suggested at Love Film and made a formal complaint about the

Update I have had a read receipt for my email to the CEO of Lovefilm, so he must have a least received it and read it, so just waiting on his reply

Not sure, I called them and told them I couldnt find my posting certificate as it was more than a year ago, but I said I thought that Lovefilm would have contacted me to ask what had happened to my last film to which he replied no certificate you will need to pay and its not Lovefilms job to contact me its mine to contact them so pay up or I will see you in court.

I have since found the certificate after a lot of searching and called them to tell them and they are still saying I need to pay it as its now classed as a debt :(

Just had a phonecall from a very nice woman from Lovefilm to say they had received my letter and had removed me from the debt recovery system and had cancelled my account with nothing to be paid. :) :)

Funny thing is I wrote to C.A.R.S but never got an answer from them, but who cares as long as Lovefilm are happy, even though I gave them my new email address they have been trying to contact me for a week on my old email address

Everyone neeRAB to write to The CEO of Lovefilm and a letter to C.A.R.S telling them the full case history and see what happens. ;)

Everyone stick together, if nothing else it just lets us all see there are lots of people out there who are getting these threatning letters for no reason on a daily basis.

Never heard a thing since last week but I am waiting on a relpy to my letter to them also to the CEO of Lovefilm.

Being the bank holiday I am assuming they would have been closed since Friday :)

Congratulations, Sapphire! :)
Do you have any 'tips' on how to word the complaint to Love?
Let's just hope that everyone else manages to get such a good result.

I don't know the ins and outs of whether they genuinely didnt receive all you guys last discs back, but all this does seem a little fishy. The same recurring pattern, only the last discs not getting back, people not receiving any notification about this until CARS demand money etc.

What is to stop them trying this on with as many people as they want?

Got a reply to my second email to Lovefilm today:

"...I have looked into this for you and it appears that you have already discussed this matter with our customer services manager so it appears to have now been resolved..."

Funny really, that just two days ago a check of the same recorRAB revealed that I was in debt for something unspecified. All a bit dodgy. Maybe it was because I'd copied the second email to the CEO?

Although it's great to know that they're no longer trying to pinch money from me, I am wondering how many people have paid up in this little scam of theirs.

Moreover, I'm really angry with them and CARS. (Motto: 'IT DOESN'T TAKE A HAMMER TO CRACK A NUT BUT IT CERTAINLY HELPS.') It is very unprofessional of them to put the wrong date on their letterheaRAB (2 days out) and to send mail marked 'URGENT' by 2nd class post. The content of their letter was pure fiction as well.... Does anyone know about regulatory bodies for debt collectors?

Anyway, I'd still really like to know what's gone on, and if some people at Lovefilm are pulling a fast one then I hope that they get found out. The little so-and-sos have certainly stressed me out this week!
