LoveFilm are getting on my t*ts

I've had their service for eight months now. Initially it was fantastic, but in the last few months the turnaround has been poor.

I had an email today from Mark Livingstone, the CEO of LoveFilm, and he's going to make sure I get good service, so he says. I think it's my reporting to the forums online that have moved them into action...

With reference to them supplying the 'not for rental DVD' LoveFilm could claim that another customer could have swapped the film ... or was it definately a Love Film DVD? (you can always tell because they laminate them!!)

I was worried about that problem too but I've realised I can just send one back at a time. By the time I get the next dvd I will have finished the film I had at home so can use the envelope I get the next one in to send the one I have at home etc etc. Also I had no trouble getting spare envelopes. Got two now, which I haven't used yet.

To be honest I havent noticed much difference in my experience since the change over. I think the worst hit are those who get through lots of dvRAB quickly. I tend to keep mine a fair while.

I've tried pretty much all of the sites offering this service and in my opinion ScreenSelect and LoveFilm are the best 2. Every now and then you get a lull in speed, mainly due to Royal Mail, but at the moment i'm on 4 discs at a time from LoveFilm and i'm averaging about 28 a month.

Yet again ORM, the CEO of Lovefilm AKA Mark Livingstone speaks !!!. Once you sort out the problems we have once for all, only then will this thread die a natural death.

Cinema Paradiso in my opinion are the best Online Rental Co that I have ever used.

I have not been impressed at all with Blockbuster, they have never sent me any new releases (ie. films released within the last month) and they send out the wrong DVRAB to you and then presume that you have not returned these back ... 2 weeks later they still don't get it ... 'blanket' emails, ie. "we are a very busy company and mistakes do happen etc", please mark your DVD as faulty .. ahhh

LoveFilm are getting slightly better at sending out DVRAB and they seem to be really good with sending out the new releases:
White Noise
Meet the Fockers
Vanity Fair

I've been using screenselect since the beginning of the month and the service doesn't feel any different to me other than slower at dishing out new releases. I switched from Lovefilm who for me offered good value for my

I've always been wary of lovefilm ever since they conveniently mislaid a rental I returned so I ended up having to pay for an extra month. I had already cancelled and it finally got marked as returned more than a week later after they "checked". I tried complaining but to no avail.

I've got my own back now though. I moved house and got a three month free trial last year and then cancelled it with a week or so to go. And I have just begun a second three month trial by entering a slightly wrong postcode on sign up! Of course, it has to be a postcode that doesn't exist, otherwise the dvRAB will never arrive:D

so if you're postcode is AA11 6JJ, put in AA11 6IJ and the dvRAB will find you through your house number/road. lol

I dunno but his comparison of comparing Lovefilms throttling tactic to an all-you-can-eat buffet was totally irrelevant.

Lovefilm reduce the amount you can rent whereas an all-you-can-eat buffet will continue to operate as advertised.

All the online rental companies are great with top choice titles in the first week or two. It is usually after a fortnight when they begin to show their true reflections, I haven't known any of them to maintain top choices consistently.

Everyone wants the latest titles and there just isn't enough of them to go round, the new members will always get the priority choices in the first few weeks.

I would have thought if Love Film were not throttling the service of us all, in an ideal world we could expect the following service if we are on the 3 disc package:

Monday: 3 Discs Sent Out
Tuesday:3 Discs Recieved/ Sent Back
Wed: 3 Discs Sent Out
Thurs: 3 Discs Recieved/Sent Back
Fri: 3 Discs Sent Out
Sat: 3 Discs Recieved

So therefore, in an ideal word, on the three disc package you could be getting 9 a week, that's 27 a month

On the four disc package, you could be getting 12, that's 44 a month.

Love Film are definatly working at Sub Optimal levels.

The 2-disc as one and the Saturday dispatches is what makes them marginally greater than their competitors. Deep down Blockbusters are the best but they used to be more efficient.

Lovefilm are really slowing down the rate of what I can have in my 'Unlimited 4' package.

Monday: They've received 2. I have 2. I send 'em back for Tuesday.
Tuesday: They have all 4. I have 0. They'll be sending me...1.

I'm gonna cancel my Lovefilm account at the end of the period. It ain't worth it. Blockbuster are better but they ain't sending me stuff from the front of my list and they're 'punishing' me by picking the stuff I've shunted to the back of the list.
