love triangles in animation..

just thinking of some love triangles I've seen in films and television..

Chip,Gadget and Dale from Rescue Rangers. ( I don't see this triangle talked about much. I was never really sure who Gadget should've ended up with)
Pocahontas,John Smith and John Rolfe .. (even though historically Poc ended up with Rolfe, the majority of Poca fans rather have Poca and Smith together)
Brooklyn,Angela and Broadway.. (same as above)

are just to name a few off top of my head.. I know some of these have been debated of who should end up with who.. can you list any more .. thoughts?

Not a triangle at all. Broadway and Angela are an item now, and will stay that way. Brooklyn is just bitter and seething. But that'll change soon when he finally finds his mate in #12.

-Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and Phoebus in The Hunchback Of Notre Dame.

Actually a quadrangle if you factor in Frollo. What I like about this film is how the three men all illustrate different levels of attraction to a pretty girl, from Quasi's shy, schoolboy crush to Phoebus' healthy "what a woman!" reaction to Frollo's destructive "if I can't have her, no one will!" lust.

-Victor, Victoria and Emily in Corpse Bride.

I like how Emily is willing to give up her lifelong (er, deathlong?) dream to become a bride because she'd be taking away the happiness meant for Victoria, and, in so doing, finds her own sense of fullfillment and satisfaction.

Historically, it's iffy Poca was ever with Smith. She was at least 15 years his junior, possibly as young as 12... and the story of her rescuing him doesn't appear in Smith's first writings of the New World... only after she's become the toast of England as Mrs. Rebecca Rolfe.

But back to the toon... The way Pocahontas' fiancee gets killed off makes me wonder. So Poca and John S. are making out. On her side, her unwanted husband-to-be is watching. On his, it's his little groupie Thomas watching.

There was also the Arnold, Helga, and Lola love triangle from Hey! Arnold, although none of them really knew of the triangle until late in the series.

There was also the Woody, Bo, and Jessy love triangle from Toy Story2, although that one wasn't really all that deep.

When you think of it, there are actually a huge number of love triangles in the plots of many cartoon series and movies alike. It's almost pointless to list them all, but if it amuses you...

And then there's the Kim/Ron/Yori triangle in Kim Possible (from Season 2 to Season 4) I mean Yori did express some interest in Ron initially in Exchange, and we didn't see the full tension reach it's height till late in Season 3 with Gorilla Fist (When Kim Confronts Yori Straight up in the zoo in the American Southwest), and then it really cooled down when Ron got his little sister Hana in Big B(r)other in Season 4 as Kim told Ron to explain to Yori that he and Kim were dating. (and it appears Yori took it quite well, even after Kim had to explain it to her as well), and finally chilled when Oh No! Yono! arrived later in Season 4.(Sure Ron still thinks a bit about Yori, but Kim is his girl so now it's a case of more like 3 good friends (actually a boyfriend/girlfriend (Kim/Ron), and a best female Friend (Yori) now in the mix. and even if they did extend the series into the future (which isn't likely), then it's anyone's guess who Yori would end up with..(Maybe Hirotaka from Exchange Perhaps?)

But at least we see that this could have gone any direction really. But in the end, the triangle is done with and things are back to normal.. for now.

:coyote:

That doesn't count. Helen only thought Bob was cheating on her with Mirage, but he actually wasn't, and Mirage wasn't 'into' Bob like that.

I consider Peter, Lois, and Brian being in some love triangle. We all know Brian has a thing for Lois, and during the episode "Play it Again, Brian" I think that when Peter finally discovered that Brian was in love with Lois after making an unwanted advance on her while Peter was fooling around on his vacation. We had a bar fight between Peter and Brian after they both insulted each other love life, (IE Peter mentioning that Brian can't hold a GF, and Brian bring up that Peter has been neglecting Lois in favor of fooling around for the majority of the vacation and even before that)

Yeah, there was never a triangle there, although that is a memorable show/note to mention. There was some brotherly fireworks at first, because all three rookery brothers, Lexington, Brooklyn, and Broadway, were competing for her in one episode, but that was more or less the end of that. Brooklyn just turned out to be bummed about it.

One item worth noting only because I know no one else will, because it's so weird and abscure, is Krillin, Yamcha, and Bulma from Dragonball Z, if you'd believe it. Bulma probably being little monk Krillin's first attractive young woman he ever met, he kind of had a unspoken thing for her (against his better judgement). There was also a part in a Saiyan Saga episode where he appears bummed that she still thinks about Yamcha (at the time).

In American Dragon originally,Rose was suppose to stay and date Nigel Thrall, with Jake still loving her. That would have made a love triangle for them.

Yuka, Kouta & Lucy in Elfen Lied.

Yuka always had a thing for Kouta and there's a chance that he may have had a thing for her, but in the end his feelings were meant for Lucy. Which in turn, makes Yuka hate Lucy at times.

I never really like love triangles. Sometimes they never get resolve and when they do somebody if left in the cold. Drama and romance toons I can understand but action show should try to avoid them. The last I want to see is action shows wasteing eps on love triangles. Lots of animes seem to have pointless love triangles that never gets resolve.
