Yes! That was nice too. I thought the coloring of the movie was gorgeous as well.

So true. Omg, the scene near the end when he's singing 'La Vie En Rose' to her in the rain, and he touches her face...I die! :sigh::sigh::sigh:

I was never sure what to make of the final scene, that's why I was in a hurry to buy the DVD at the time lol hoping the director's commentaries could clear that up... but nope, he didn't say (it was stupid to assume he would, in the first place)... I honestly don't know because these two kids would be able to just "cement" their love like that. They were crazy like that. But on the other hand, you see those old people and you can't help but wonder... so I don't know.

Never heard that expression, you sure this isn't a french-canadian one? :P

Maybe... like I said, I really don't know anymore. It's funny because sometimes I hate when movies end like that, when you don't really know the ending, but in this movie, I think it was a very clever choice.

I didn't know there was a thread for this movie! I love it! It's probably my favorite French movie. They just had great chemistry. I love how the rest of the world seemed to fade and it was all about them and their game.

They really did. When she looked at him you could see how badly she wanted to be with him. And by then end, you could see how crazy in love he was with her.

Those 10 years apart must've been hell.

I need to watch this again soon. Seeing Guillaume and Marion at the Oscars together reminded just how much I love them and this movie.

I think in some ways the point of the story was that they didn't grow up, they stayed with that game until the end. They realized that either way - growing old or dying in cement, that they would end up together. I choose to believe that in a way it doesn't matter which way they end up, because they're both kind of the same.

And I think they had to live because they couldn't grow up and evolve so long as the stupid game ruled their lives. Because the game had evolved (maybe the game was the protagonist?) to the point where it was a weapon for the two of them. And it kept them apart. I think they either had to do the ultimate "Cap ou Pas Cap" and commit to one another. And then they lived.

That's true, otherwise the movie wouldn't have a point.

I agree about the "goes through something" part, obviously, but sometimes it doesn't change them, or if it does, they might still want/need to behave as before, realizing that they can't change who they are. Know what I mean? I think protagonists chose to evolve or not. That's why I really can't make up my mind about Julien&Sophie's fate, because I doubt they were able to really grow-up and evolve.

That is absolutely what I thought!!!lol. I haven't seen the whole movie which sucks, but from what i've read online it is such a good movie!!! Rockstar, I luv your avi!!lol! I think that in the movie, Julien and Sophie basically played the game because I guess it was the only way to express their love for each other. One of my other favorite parts was at the end!! I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I love the scene of what could've hapened when they're old.

Oh, and YelenLovesLogan, your sooo right. Julien is suuper hot!!!!

See, again you're not wrong. I just need to be a bit more specific about what I mean (and even then you can still disagree, obviously). The main characters in movies have to change. Something has to happen to them. Their perspective have to be tested. That's the definition of a protagonist. Someone who goes through challenges and emerges into something else. Doesn't have to be something humongestly different, but something has to happen.

And our main characters there (sorry, bad with names, and haven't seen it in a while)... if that's how they die, then they haven't learned anything. They haven't changed.

I loved this film too! It was so quirky and interesting and you kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. It was also kind of romantic, in a very warped sort of way, how they literally cemented their love for each other in the end...

And the guy is super hot so that helps too. :P

Hiya, teenbopper! Welcome to the boards!
