I hope someone here can give me some helpful advice. I am a 50 year old male, about 30 lbs overweight and a non-smoker. Until this past April, I have enjoyed excellent health all my life. In April I had a bout of bronchitis. Since then, I have had spells of dizziness and vertigo, shaky hanRAB, fatigue, ringing in my ears, aching muscles especially in the thighs and shoulders, muscle twitching, tingling sensation in my fingers, insomnia, an intermittent low grade fever (feeling too hot) and a decrease in overall stamina. I have also experienced heart palpitations, a movement of my head in rhythm with my heart beat and I have no sense of smell and very limited taste.

In addition to my GP, I have seen a neurologist, a rheumatologist, and ENT, and a cardiologist. I have had an MRI of the head for MS, an ENG test, chest X-Ray and a CTA, all have come back normal. I am scheduled for a stress test this Friday. I have had enough blood drawn to fill a swimming pool and a nuraber of things are out of range. They are as follows (normal ranges are in parenthesis): HDL-26 (>40), total protein-5.5 (6.2-8.3), globulin-1.8 (2.1-3.7), vitamin B1

Hi...have you had your thyroid checked as well as your Vitamin D and B12 levels?

What's your blood pressure?

Did you gain the 30 pounRAB over a short period of time?

ARe you on any other medications or other supplements?

Do you consume artificial sweeteners or anything new like that over the past year?

I can certainly understand your frustration and confusion about what's going on.

ARe your toes tingly as well?

Thanks for your reply.

Thyroid is in normal range

Vitamin D has not been checked

B12 was 216 (low end of normal) and I have been getting monthly B12 shots since June. I also take a sublingual B12 tablet daily (forgot to mention that)

Blood pressure is usually in the 115/70 range

No weight gain. In fact, I've lost about 15 lbs over the last two years by cutting back on junk food. I've always been a bit overweight.

The only medications and supplements are the ones listed.

No artificial sweeteners (that I am aware of)

Toes are not tingly

It's possible the bronchitis was a trigger for viral thyroiditis to set in. Most of your symptoms are classic hyperthyroid. Many doctors miss thyroid diagnoses, because many don't even know the best tests to run. Make absolutely sure that you had all of these: TSH, free T4, free T3, and TPO and TSI antibodies. (The abnormal antibody results you have are for 'non-specific' antibodies and suggestive of a specific autoimmune process going on; the TSI and TPO tests are the specific antibodies responsible for the most common causes of thyroid disease.)

Knowing what I know about thyroid disease and how bad MRAB are at diagnosing it, I would definitely not rule it out just yet.

I've heard that too regarding thyroid disease and that GPs miss a lot with testing only for the basics.

I would for sure get your D checked ASAP.....and your B12 again. Tingling extremeties can be a symptom of high B12.

Thanks for the replies so far. I should have mentioned in my reply that my B12 was checked in early Septeraber and it was 395, so it is on the rise.
