LOTR or Matrix?

Matrix (even tho the sequels - particularly Revolutions - weren't great).. I just can't get into LOTR and I've TRIED but I was getting about halfway thru the first one and just kept turning off :p

FINALLY got through MOST of it and I've seen bits of the Two Towers but the whole thing just doesn't appeal to me. *ducks in anticipation of cries of "heretic" etc* :D)

for me it has to be LOTR!! that has to be one of the bestseries of films ever!!!!!! the Matrix just sucked!!!! and the attitude of the makes and some of the stars made it seem like The Matrix was the bible or something!!! tyhey just seemed to get so full of themselves!!!!

Because I have watched both trilogy's I feel I can justifiably give an opinion (unlike some in this thread!) Definitely LOTR, it is the best trilogy ever, the first Matrix film was excellent but then it lost it's way badly. LOTR must be the only time each film has actually improved on the one before (unlike the early Star Wars,Godfather, Raiders, or Back to the Future - all of which the 3rd instalment were the worst)

LOTR wins for me. I too have seen both trilogies.

The Matrix is good but nowhere near as good as LOTR.

Although The Matrix is better than Star Wars..

1- LOTR
2- Matrix
3- Back to the Future

Although I can't stand Star Wars anyway...

It has to be LOTR as all three films where great. The original matrix film is my favourite ever film, but the last two were only average films.

lord of the rings easily wins in my opinion
fist matrix was excellant and promised so much for the future ones.
but they turned out to be total rubbish for me

I would have to go with LOTR.
I was a great fan of the books and deliberately have not read them over the past few years so that I coud enjoy the films.

Only thing that did nark me was the realism (OK, I know its fantasy material), but no matter what happened, no matter how many Orcs/Nazgul etc. turned up Legolas just smiled and hopped about with his freshly washed hair and cloak of invincibility. Boy, I would have loved it if someone had smacked him about a bit in the last film.

the matrix for me.
LOTR was a watchable film but i just don't really like the storyline as much as the matrix. Having said that i would agree that all the LOTR films are of similar standarRAB whereas the matrix sort of went downhill after the first one.

I think that both are great films but in my opinion the matrix has no chance against LOTR. The matrix doesnt play with your emotions  but only draws you into the adventure where as LOTR makes you cry , laugh :D, panic  and you have the adventure of a lifetime.

LOTR might not appeal to you but i only ask that you dont insult it for it means the world to some.

I'm a mad Matrix fan, but it just doesn't come close to the LOTR trilogy. Especially after seeing Return of the King. I thought Reloaded was visually fantastic, but It just didn't make my spine shiver in the way that ROTK did.

Yes, in a one or t'uther, I would have to say LOTR.
But can I keep The Matrix trilogy as well, please? :D

both films are nerdy! but then again true nerRAB love sci fi not fantasy so matrix wins hanRAB down

oh no im being mauled by a hobbit.....ahhhhhh

tolkien was remembered for the book, lets keep it that way

How bloody patronising! , how can you say what a true nerd likes....all "nerRAB" (if you want to call them that) are individual and will like what they want.....they dont go by a rule book so dont say what you think they like.

As for my opinion of the book here is a looong quote from another thread=

Dont you guys think Matrix is more suited to be compared to Star wars rather then LOTR........Since Star wars and the matrix are both THE sci-fi movies of the generation so to speak....they have alot in commen as well!

I thought LOTR was dull as dishwater, and sadly, The Two Towers was worse.

The Matrix (the first film) wins hanRAB down, it's just a real shame they ruined it for Reloaded. Haven't seen the third films in either trilogy, but I think I'm probably being accurate when I say The Matrix is the better trilogy if only because it has one good film out of three, wheras LOTR has none.

How do you know that LOTR has no good films out of three when you admit to having only seen two of them? methinks you are one of these people who has already made up his mind not to like it regardless, just to be "different"
