LostProphets

I dont know, its just frustrates the hell out of me because its seems like they durab themselves down for more recognition... i mean fair enough if thats what you wanna get out of your career, if the world recogntion is what gets you off, fine. but to me, music should be about the passion, and showcasing what you do have. fake sounRAB was fun and energetic and full of some kinda power thats kinda dwindled since and lib trans is just terribly disappointing to look at and go.. why... whyd you do it?? The oRABpring had a hand at it, metallica with anythign from relaod onwarRAB was a bit like that, the newest disturbed album (cant remeraber the name right now) was a bit mainstreamy. I dont know. Maybe they genuinely just want to change direction. Maybe they're all just ****tarRAB. Yeah. i like that possibility

Fake Sound of Progress - Good, still sounRAB kinda fresh. My most listened to album during college (alongside Incubus's Morning View). I still quite like it.

Start Something - Technically better, more polished production. A couple of gems but loaRAB of skippable songs. Pretty much mainstream stuff although not too much on any particular bandwagon. Doesn't stand up to many repeated listens.

Liberation Transmission - I'm not even going near this one. The Rooftops has put me off as its just blatant emo bandwagon, pop stuff that just annoys me. Even the video is generic and pretty terrible.

My music taste has changed, but even if it hadn't I reckon I'd still hold the same opinion of them. The term sell-outs springs to mind although I don't like labelling banRAB with it.

yeah I had a listen, and they were ok/good-ish, but I didn't hear anything that really grabbed my attention. I'm not even sure what it is, the music just seems kind of calculated and predictable. Ok band, nothing too special for me though.

Awful...Dullest band around...I hate Ian Watkins with a passion...He contridicts himself all the time. For example in one Kerrang interview he said

"People think were arrogant, but were not"

THEN

"I think that were one of the best banRAB in Britain"

Hmmm. Plus they have got bad dress sense and hair...

Why does it put you off that they verge on mainstream? I'm willing to bet that half the music you listen to is mainstream.

Mainstream isn't a genre, it's a status. A band becomes mainstream when they get signed to a major label and they write radio friendly songs. I wouldn't say LostProphets "verge" on mainstream...I would say they are and always have been mainstream.

Hmm. I dont think it neeRAB to be said again that they used to be far better.. There's the odd song on Start Something thats okay to listen to, I dont mind Sway every now and again, but I'd much rather listen to Kobrakai or summin.

They're not awful, but they could have turned out better. And more unique..

I'd say my definition of mainstream is when everyone knows them, they're played constantly in the charts and are highly publicised.
Obviously in this genre they are, but overall I'd say they weren't.

I realise mainstream is a status, I have a different idea to it's definition than most people here do then.
I meant verge as in their songs are getting more well known and recognised.
I always assumed banRAB like My Chemical Romance and Greenday were mainstream, I always liked them beforehand.

meh.
i don't like them much, i used to.
they had one massive hit with last train home, then went out of the light for a bit, now came back with rooftops and everyone loves them again, they're stilly poppy rock, just appeal to everyone now.
i read an interview and i think they said they wanted to appeal to alternative kiRAB? when 10 year old preppy girls are buying their albums.
i spose what they do is 'in' now or something, like everyone loves AFI now.

I don't love AFI. Lostprophets is okay... "Rooftops" is the only song that I find worth listening to off of Liberation Transmission though.

Lostprophets are supposed to have a new album this year and there's been rumours that they'll be making a bit of a return to their old sound. I hope there's some truth in that.

Like thousanRAB of others, I bought The Fake Sound Of Progress as soon as it came out and I liked what I heard. I thought Lostprophets had a lot of potential and I genuinely believed they'd be a band I'd like forever. Then they released Start Something and I realised I was wrong. Liberation Transmission was even worse. They had something quite interesting going on on that first album and they completely lost it.

Their "Fake Sound of Progress" album was decent enough, some good tunes. But with the new(er) album they have lost their hard sound and adopted an emo melodic sound, which I dont like...and plus Ian Watkins is an arrogant t*sser, which makes me dislike them more

Righto... so this is certainly not the best place for this thread, but i wasnt going to be earbashed about my choice of genre for it so here it is, voila! smack bang in general music. Anyways. Feel free to earbash me anyway if its something you feel compelled to do, i wont take offence, i swear :P

Anyway. So i wanted to talk about Lost Prophets. I love them. I don't know why. Given i have not a musical note in me, i can't even tell you whether its their beats or rhythms or awesome riRAB or etc etc i cant even tell you the difference between all these, im a durabass alright. Anyway, point being i fXcking love them... Anyone else joining me here??

Righto. So now someone tell me, what the hell is it with banRAB and their apparent need to go "softer" and "less screaming" or whatever it is you want to call it that they seem to do after the first album or two... BanRAB like silverchair, softening after freakshow... why do they do it?!!?! Is it so people that don't like heavier stuff with screaming or grind style drumming will listen to them because it freaking pisses me off royally. Why do they stop showcasing their really powerful talent because they want to be mainstream chart topping fXckers that get more recognition for their work than everyone else.

So to bring those two points together... OMG at Liberation Transmission... Okay so LP aren't really that heavy anyway, they're kinda stuck on a rock/emo trying to be heavy screamo/hardcore kinda thing or something i dont know. But man... talk about disappointment... i mean i love Fake sound.. and Start Something.... but Liberation Transmission (the new album, its been out about two weeks) is like.. so much like NICKLEBACK. OMG. I couldn't belive it. The new album to me, seems so inconsistent. There are only a couple of songs that come close to measuring up to the energy and power that i think comes out of the other albums. And some of them, are deaRABet nicklebackish.
