Well don't get my wrong I believe you and I are in agreement that it is slightly, over hyped. I don't see anything timeless here. It's just a fairly good pathology of the lonely and the misguided. But why is it good?in short: it contains characters with a bit a bit a depth that are acted out with high degree of competence, a narrative that is well structured and compliments the characters and the pace, without patronising the viewer and some fairly good cinematography with for the most part a good sense of technical direction. I think that the film works, but only just. Which I believe justifies it as a "good" film, not amazing.
I can't speak for you, but I saw this movie before critics and other people got their teeth into it, which is maybe one of the reasons I could enjoy it better. If my answer is still too vague, then I could be wrong. But I think that your opinion comes down to just that.Your opinion, and not a logical, un-biased assessment of the film.
