depending on the age of the car sometimes dealerships can order a new key off the VIN number off the car which would match the chip required for the ignition.... for an older car get the local road service or a locksmith to get the car open and go to a motor wreckers and chase up a new ignition switch and locks with keys to match... or if a locksmith can make a key for you

I've just had to do this so here's what I know.

If you just want the non-remote key then you should be able to get it from most locksmiths... the big chain (Timpsons?) have a call out van that will come and programme a replacement at your car. I had one of the keys with me from which they could reprogramme it and that cost £75... They can still do it without the key, but may cost a little more. Most locksmiths will be able to do this, or will be able to recommend someone who will.

For the remote unlocking key you will have to go to a main ford dealer, they'll need the car for about an hour and it will cost approx £140.

Try the yellow pages for locksmiths who specialise in car keys, as they'll be the cheapest option.

Locksmith
Or remove the bottom panel under the steering wheel. remove the ignition box. Then start it with the lever normally shifted when you turn the key.
