Lost camera....

Don't know whether this is too obvious or naive but looking at the relevant picture.... could some judiciously placed tape prevent it from turning ?

A phone call will yah or nay it once and for all I guess.

After more research and watching this video - it appears to be able to be done http://www.vholdr.com/node/7668

Great point. And the video link you posted is an exact example of what I like in a bike video. Nice!!!! I'll make that call. I'm guessing if you taped it down two things may happen. 1) The servo or small motor that turns the lens would probably burn out over time (which would be just fine by me : ) 2) Battery life would be significantly less since whatever is turning that lens would be torque-ing to it's max.

Of the two, battery life would be most important to me. Definitely worth a call...and guessing I wont be the first with that question either. Looking at the video you linked, there's obviously a solution....which get's me thinking.

I think a phone call will be worth it.

The videos I saw did show the lean angle. Maybe whoever submitted the video did just that.

It's a tough decision....I do like the fact that I could take stills with the GoPro. and I don't want to put 3M tape on my fairings. Would rather use a suction cup (but tie it down this time. I learned my lesson).

Def something to consider. I'll try to make a call today if I get a break from work....I guess I shouldn't be on the forum then huh...?

Ok, so I called Vholdr and asked about the rotation of the camera lens, as well as the Water Resistant/Water Proof capabilities of the camera. (I do a lot in the water)

So, the camera lens will rotate to set up your shot, but you have to rotate it manually. Set it and forget it. So, that's pretty nice. Mount it, adjust the horizon as you like it and there you go. That way, you can mount it on the side, front, top, bottom of the bike. You can mount it upside down as well, and then rotate the lense to see "right side up".

The microphone is waterproof, but the camera itself is water resistant. Rain, sleet, snow, ice....the camera should do fine they said. Throw it in the water...not such a good idea.

Thanks for making the call zman! One of the things I don't like is having to stick the mounting bracket on the fairing and leaving it there. I don't want to shoot video everyday and would rather not leave it on the bike if I'm not shooting. I do like how small and slime line it is though versus the GoPro. I like the suction cup mount of the GoPro. I was going to mount it on my truck too when I go off road. That goes back to not wanting to leave a bracket on the side of my truck all the time.

I wonder if the handle bar mount will mount on the trellis frame of my Monster? hmmmm

I guess you don't have to use their complete mounts and the last vid I posted appears to be happy with the ram mount options. Most of those appear to be bolt on/off.

RAM mount looks good. I'm assuming the camera mount will work some what since it has the flat base minus the ball screw poking through. Maybe I can find a place that sells them. I hate ordering stuff on line if I'm not sure they'll fit.

I want something I can use on my 748 and Monster. I'll have to wait until I get back to NC next week to do some measurements.
