Lost camera....

So I have my GoPro camera mounted on the left side fairing. It's about 7pm, dark outside. I look down to hit record and it's gone.... (I only had the camera for a week). I doubled back but no luck finding it.

I guess the good news is now I can get the better one with the wide angle lense!

That's the second time I've heard of those things falling off now. It would appear their mounting system could be improved. Maybe a 'safety cable' for the next one as insurance.

Interesting....I've had great luck with their mounting hardware...just not with the camera. I've mounted mine on my Sky Ski, Kneeboard, and my waterski helmet. All those have been rock solid. Submerged, crashed, flown, flipped....perfect. Like Brett suggested, I always use a tether in the water.

I've also mounted it on my motocross helmet...that worked great too until I cross rutted myself on a fast hill descent in the mountains.....Head to shoulder roll didn't do that mount any favors. 3 pieces...but found the camera.

The one mount that I did have fail was my own weak attempt to mount it to the fender of my ice race bike. I used "permanent" 3m product to adhere a platform with the gopro mount attached. Permanent wasn't so permanent, and I was lucky to find the camera on the track, as opposed to losing it in the 2 mile snowy ride to get to the track.

Sorry you lost your's bro, but sounds like you'll be happy with the upgrade. How was it mounted???? Go Pro peal and stick mount?

I used the suction cup mount and had it on the left side fairing right below the clip on. I'm in AZ now where it is dusty and I should have wiped the area down before sticking it to the bike. I should known better to tie it off... We tie down everything when we jump with equipment. Lesson learned I guess. One for the loss column.

Does anyone know of any other camera systems used on motorcycles?

Vholdr baby...... http://www.vholdr.com/

For Xtreme people

Sticks like shit to a blanket (apparently)

Auto rotates so you're image is always upright etc etc.

I love everything about that camera except that auto leveling image. Most times that would be great, but there are plenty of times that would get in the way of the shot. Flipping for instance, I wonder what it would do with that...I should watch some of their videos, I'll bet there's numerous people capturing some kind of flip on some kind of device. Also, what about capturing lean angles on the bike. I tend to like that in the image, instead of a constant level image. Ice Biking for instance yields ridiculous lean angles....(If my freakin Go Pro would work I'd show ya)...and that's part of what makes up the sport. Mounting it to a fender makes for great aggressive shots.

The video link posted in this thread is a perfect example. It's way more intense (I think) to see the horizon flip from side to side during the clip.

Obviously this camera is leagues ahead of the Go Pro....I looked and looked on the vholdr site to see if you had the option to lock the auto leveling feature off...but doesn't appear that you can.
