loss of hand control

went to the gym on sunday night. om monday morning, woke up with pins and needles in 2 fingers, over the week it has spread up my arm to my neck and head, with a numb sensation throughout. Now my hand feels like it is stiffening up and I am losing control and grip. Any advice?

Sounds like you may have ruptured a disk in your neck. Which fingers are involved?

You need to be seen by your doc and get an MRI of your neck to make sure that is what is going on. Physical therapy and other techniques can help to relieve the pressure. Surgery is a last resort. but if you don't get the treatment started early, then surgery becomes more likely.

a big old ditto on what jenny just told you to do in this type of situation. what you described here is just showing a very REAL NEED for a full neuro eval and a referral for preferrably a contrasted MRI being done on your c spine as well. this would possibly show the area of impact or problem up in your c spine. while other things could also create this type of symptomology, that c spine would be the 'most likely' source given what you described here and the symptoms that followed a workout at your gym too.

just see your primary doc for that eval and to get that really important referral for the c spine MRI. this is just really the very best type of test you could possibly have right now. its just the basic starting point when trying to Dx something like you have going on. it just needs doing. hopefully things are not too overly bad up there, but DO get this done soon. please let us know what you find out. make certain too that you yourself actually obtain your very own copy of that radiology report so you simply have it for YOUR records. they DO come in very very handy at certain times. this also allows YOU to actually read thru it yourself since some docs simply do not actually tell all patients about every real hard finding that would be in that summary at the end of the report? you just need it. good luck, FB
