Loss of car brakes with no visible fluid loss.?

Hi guys, I would like some help regarding my car brakes. I own a 91 civic hatchback, and yesterday, on my way home, I drove in a curve and heard a ''tock'' sound on the left side of my car.

Then, when I arrived at the street lights, I noticed I was losing alot of brake pressure. Since I only had a few streets to go to get home, I checked my fluid, and noticed my reservoir was empty. I filled the cup, and checked it this afternoon after the car had been sitting there overnight.

The reservoir is empty, and I see no sign of brake fluid on the pavement, or visual leaks on all 4 wheels or under the car along the brake lines.

What could have caused this problem, and would refilling the cup and rebleeding my brakes help solve this problem ? I had no brake problems previous to this incident, except a slow fluid leak which I had to refill about once a month due to my low milage I do with my car.

Is this due to a defected master cylinder, or just the fact the I ran out of fluid, and all my lines need to be refilled ?

The fact that I see no leak is confusing me greatly. Thanks in advance, and any opinion is appreciated.
