Losing weight

Losing weight sucks.
I put on about 30 lbs.
That sucks. I've lost 25.

I still have some fat on me. It's only been a month and a half though, that's pretty good progress.

I finally understand how people get fat. It just creeps up on you, and one day you realize your jeans don't fit right anymore. When you bend over, something weird happens with your belly. It folds and flabs. You feel like shit, you get sick more often, you've lost your energy, and you feel like shit for being fat.

Maybe it's because I've been crazy fit all my life, and I've never even thought I'd ever be fat. I have stretch marks on my inner uppper thighs. I'm fucking disgusted in myself. I put scars on my body due to laziness. What a waste.

So, this is to all the overweight struggling against it. I finally understand.

It took me to snap back and bust it to lose this weight. I did it oldschool, diet right and labor hard. Run, lift, work, whatever. Do it as hard as you can. Go push mow the yard, even if you have a riding lawn mower. Go outside and wash and wax your car, even if it's not that dirty. Upgrade your home. Just make yourself active for as long as you can, then go work out.

Man it sucks. I never made fun of fat people, but I've looked at some and thought, "Well they just don't care". I was wrong. It's hard, slow, and difficult, and I feel like an ass for assuming otherwise about people I don't even know.

I don't even know how I could've have lost it going to school and working full time. I don't think I would've even had time.

I agree with you, it does kinda sneak up on you. Just recently I noticed that it was a bit uncomfortable to wear some of my clothes, and yea... Feels terrible. I need to hop on the exercise train again, seeing as it's getting to be winter and if I don't hop to it, it'll just continue to get me.
Stupid fat.

I wish I had your determination. I'm turning into a bit of a muscle-less blob. Not fat, but I don't have the tone or strength that I want. School kinda gets in the way. Anyways, good luck on your continued pursuits.

Running helps.

Every day, 2 miles. When, after a few months, you have been running the 2 miles and you no longer feel pain in your waist and legs, up it to 3.

Keep that up until you're doing 5+ a day.

You'll lose weight like mad and your heart will be one very happy muscle.

Also, avoid McDonalds, BurgerKing, Checkers, TacoBell, Wendys, KFC, and all of the disgusting greasy junk shit they sell you for 4.99$ extra large. You're literally pumping fat into your system when you eat that.

Also, try doing crunches. While women may not want to get 6-pack abs, it's nice when they are slender. Avoid doing standard crunches only. (In other words; instead of simply crunching your abs with your knees buckled and your hands at the back of your head, do it to the sides, so that you work out your waist).

I'm going to make a thread with this shit some fine day.

A good way to lose weight (other than diet and exercise) is to build a lot of muscle. The more muscle you have the more fat you burn doing nothing. This helps a lot when you have a job where you are stationary most of the time. Good luck losing weight.

She's not going to be able to just start doing 2 miles a day right off of the bat after having a baby.

While most of what you said is wonderful for normal people trying to get fit, bodies recovering from pregnancy are a whole lot weaker than we women like to show.

Bathory:
Take him out for stroller walks for about an hour every day, for the first 2 weeks, then up it to brisk walking, for another 2 weeks. (you should get a jogging stroller if you haven't already, check craigslist and amazon) then start jogging, a half an hour a day for about 3 weeks, after that, 45 minutes for a week, then an hour a day of jogging. don't do treadmills or elipticals, when you're on the ground, you work more muscles than you do when you're on a machine.

every night, 50 crunches, 50 pushups, don't worry about stopping in between, it'll be hard to continuously do them. You can also do 25 in the morning, and then 25 in the night.

Stairs are nice too, running up and down them for a half an hour a day if you can't get out with the kid to work out.

=) my husband's in the air force, I hear about the exercise shit all of the time. I also have a mtv yoga video (all techno, don't worry) that's more like a yoga workout than it is a relaxing yoga session, let me know if you want a copy. ;)

A copy of that would be fantastic. Your pantalones are on their way, btw.

There isn't really anywhere to stroll the baby that isn't in the middle of the road where we live; we're in the country. I could always drive somewhere though. It's starting to get cold, so I better hop on it soon. I do 100 crunches every night, but no push ups. :) I can't even do 2 pushups in a row

if you're having a hard time with the pushups, grab some family size cans of soup or ravioli and start lifting for a bit

I hope they get here soon, I'm running out of things to wear :happysad:

I've got 5lb weights somewhere, I just have to dig them out. I have a Cindy Crawford workout video (go ahead and laugh but it's got great variety and is fun) that I also need to dig out. THat video has EVERYTHING: cardio, stretches, lunges, crunches, weight lifting, squats, pec exercises....the works.

Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I totally did not read the pregnancy thing.

Well, I insist on the 1-2 mile thing. Instead of running it, just briskly walk it, maybe listening to a few tunes with headphones.

It's relaxing, and it helps the body and mind much more than people think!

Now you k now what it fucking feels like! I hope every fucker who says fat people are disgusting look at this post cuz it's not easy to lose the weight even if you work hard at it! I know, I've been trying to lose weight for over a year and it's only just slowly comming off. Gah, I hate being fat more than anything else in the world.

My family has a solution and it works great. You lose weight and you get toned muscles and you get tan.

Get a job that requires manual labor. Every summer I move furniture for a tourist apartment complex. Every summer they take every empty apartment in this 100+ complex and furnish them for tourists, then they empty them out when the summer is over.

Great exercise moving couches and 80's dressers up and down 3 flights of stairs and across parking lots. It'll tone you real quick.

Well, that's arguable. Becoming out of shape or fat is what happens when you eat unhealthy foods and don't exercise. Anyone with any sort of common sense knows this, but some don't care or just don't mind being fat. This is anecdotal at best, I know, but I have a long time friend who has always been borderline obese. He simply doesn't care. He's relatively healthy for his weight (as far as I know) and completely comfortable with his condition. I'm sure he's not representative of all overweight people, but I don't doubt that there are others who share his outlook.

That's not to say that being fat is worth mocking though.

I cannot emphasize enough how bad it is on your body to do cardiovascular exercise everyday. Your heart is a muscle, and like any other muscle it needs to be WORKED to stay lean and healthy. However, just like any other muscle, it is susceptible to being overworked, and the heart is the one muscle you do NOT want to overwork.

Again, it is a terrible idea to build and maintain a heartbeat of 120 BPM or more everyday for 20 minutes or more. Instead, supplement cardiovascular exercise with strength training (or resistance training if you are worried about adding weight). Resistance training, such as calesthenics, stretches, and light weight/heavy rep workouts will do the job.
