Is it possible to lose intelligence or memory capacity as a result of stress, or anything at all?
I am positive that, a few years ago, I was much more potent in doing academic work that I am now. I was one of the fastest learners in my class. But, that changed. And I'm certain that it's not just that material got tougher over the years.
One additional thing: I don't like thinking about this too much. It makes me extremely anxious to think of how easier school would be now if only I was as "smart" as I was before. Perhaps I'm just not able to concentrate as easily as I used to, but I'm very dubious about this explanation.
