oh my gosh i just read this. Is this true? "Lortab withdrawal may cause circulatory or respiratory collapse." I am freaking out because I just quit cold turkey today and that makes me want to take it again.

just exactly where did you read this? i can tell you from my own experinces in having to WD from hydro based meRAB MANY times during my very active addiction years that i have never ever felt in any way shape or form like i was going into any TYPE of either resp/cardiac failure or anything even remotely close to it. more like the flu than anything else. something else had to be there(underlying issue) for that to even occur at all, you know what i mean? i would suppose if someone were having been on some really over the top insane amount of hydro for a very continuous length of time that had started to really impact body system function, that something 'could" happen, but what you are describing really does not sound the norm at all.
you are more likely to actually have THAT type of situation occur when you are actually ON the lortab(and continuously adding to the dose?) since it does depress the CNS, but going off? very different situation there. i would not let this info stop you from doing what you know would be the very best thing for you right now. i have just never ever heard of this occur with anyone ever(been to many an NA meeting in my days). the thing is, everyones very highly individual body pysiology is very different from others. the only way i could even think that that type of reaction could even occur would be some other drug could have been present at the time, or there was some type of other medical problem going on there too that the person either did not know about or it was a fluke type of situaton?
just do not allow this to become a "justification" to not do what is best for you. how many hydros per day are you currently taking? marcia

that is really a low dose...you should be fine coming off and depending how long you've been on it I doubt you'll experience much of a withdrawl as far as really uncomfortable symptoms. It's my understanding, from rehab & talking to docs, that the only drugs you can die from in withdrawl are alcohol and benzodiazepines (valium, ativan, xanax, klonopin). We feel like we're dying in opiate withdrawl but it won't kill us....there's many a time I wished it would though. Good luck and try not to worry. Talk to your doctor if you are really concerned.

I can tell you without even knowing anything about the incident that there is a whole lot more to that story than a simple stopping of Lortab. Without the intimate details it isn't something that a person should repeat as if it is the truth. So just do what you need to do and you will be fine.
