though I may be in dire straits
and can't hear for my own applause
your remedial distance is very well understood
and though some degree of civility must remain
I still think of you more than I should

so when our lips barely touch
and our entire bodies quiver
my charm, my wit - both become perilous and dire
for as we know, as it has been said hither;
satisfaction is the death of desire

these were written as two separate poems, but they were about the same thing and in the same style so i just stuck them together. first poetry i've written in weeks :(

this is really good, i couldnt even tell they were different poems, thats how well the stanzas flow

im coming out of a many month long poetry slump man

thanks. and yeah they fit together really well because they follow the same rhythm. i've written quite a few with that structure; most of my shorter poems are like this or follow one other style (which generally involves dialogue)
