Looney Tunes vs. Batman TAS vs. The Simpsons

I agree, but it's still fun to see what other people's tastes are, we may agree or disagree but these polls are still fun.

Anyway, my vote goes to Looney Tunes because they're a timeless classic and it's my second favorite cartoon series of all time. The Simpsons are great too but the later episodes aren't as good as the earlier ones. Batman: TAS is kinda overrated IMO. Don't get me wrong, it's a great show but there are a number of action toons (and toons overall) that I'd take over it.

I agree with everyone who says the 3 shows are incomparable, but anyways, my vote goes to Simpsons. I love everythign about it. From characters to setting to plots etcf.

I agree. This is apples to oranges. There is no "greatest cartoon ever." It's all about the best in their respective categories. I simply like all of these shows too much.

Looney Tunes, The Simpsons and Batman: TAS are all different beasts, with the former 2 being closer in terms of humor.

Looney Tunes should be against MGM, Disney, Walter Lantz, Terrytoons, UPA, Columbia, Paramount, Fleischer/Famous Studios, Hanna-Barbera, and other shorts.

The Simpsons should be against The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Family Guy, King of The Hill, and other animated family sitcoms.

Batman: The Animated Series should be against X-Men, Spider Man 1994, Superman: TAS, and other action shows.

This is the thing -- they're all so different in style and genre and great in their own way.

The best Looney Tunes were the theatrically released Golden Age shorts, and they even had a pretty long run prior to television. They are some of the best cartoons ever made, and considering how well the production was, especially during those animation pioneering years, it's really hard to beat them.

The Simpsons is a great, great show, but I think the writing and humor is what makes that series so loved, much more so than the animation itself.

Obviously, I love Batman, so Batman TAS is my favorite, but as far as the best animation.. I don't know. It's certainly great and influential, but then we'd have to look at what inspired it most, which was the brilliant Fleischer Superman shorts, which should probably be considered even greater than anything else on this list.

BUT, when it really comes down to it, nothing in my opinion can beat the original early MGM/Fred Quimby/Hanna-Barbara theatrical shorts of TOM AND JERRY. From the direction and comedic timing, the amazing animation and painted backgrounds to the incredible Scott Bradley scores, the Golden Age Tom and Jerry shorts are the very best! Yes, even above Warner Brothers' Looney Tunes.
