Looks like the democrats can't handle their own transparency

amateur reporters? LOL.

you buy a guitar you are not fucking eric clapton. You come up with a camera and a microphone you are not Bob Woodward.

well, is there evidence that BP is criminally negligent? Mind you, the feds are investigating criminal charges into BP. Some people who understand drilling seem to think so. I am still curious what test BP did that passed the cement seal after it failed the original test.

remember, that people went to jail for faking inspection reports in that crane accident in NYC a few years ago that killed a bunch of people when a tower crane that wasn't properly anchored to the building fell. ask philvia.

I once met a guy named steve. He was a real asshole. everyone named steve must be a real asshole too.

nobody is disagreeing with you.

I am all for ending of lobbying and special interest groups.

ok fine.

but allowing them to announce publicly that they are investigating congressman x for something based on an anonymous tip without any evidence whatsoever?

I have no problem with them doing investigating anonymous tips, but remember in this country we nominated someone who didn't campaign at ALL.

we are not well informed, and once a bullshit charge has been announced, people like DE will continue to think its true....even if it is complete bullshit.

There are "DEs" on both sides. So what? I want our elected leaders under a fucking microscope. The only ones opposed to the light have something to hide IMO.
If that is asking too much of them, they should sell cars for a living and stay the fuck out of public service.

apparently you think people are perfect. good luck finding 535 people to put up with the bullshit that goes into being a member of congress. But what do you expect from people who don't know any congressmen.

the changes proposed are good. It is too easy to use this new office to commit a political assassination. all it takes is an "anonymous" phone call that so and so used x funds to pay for an illegal hooker right before the election.

by the time the smoke clears, it is too late and the damage has been done.

in this country we are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty. going public with charges before they are substantiated negates that because the american public is fucking worthless.

I don't expect perfection out of my elected representatives.

I do expect them to try to follow the law and I expect them not to use their office for their own gain.

Adultery? Expected, and no reason (IMO) to lose your job. Lying about it under oath? Perhaps you shouldn't represent me.

Speeding tickets? Shit happens. Using your position to have them fixed so you can keep your job? Not acceptable.

Trying to make as much money as you can? Most of us do that every day. Failing to report it as income knowing your life is under a microscope? I don't care to hear what you have to say on the subject of immigration.

See the difference? There's a vast chasm between being "imperfect"- something all of the members of congress are- and being a lying sack of self entitled shit- which some members of our legislature clearly are.

perfectly OK to strangle them on the sidewalk. typical leftist attitude- you need a license and paperwork to be taken seriously, heaven forbid someone be a self starter and take things into their own hands. I get it

gee, I don't know. is there evidence that congress is corrupt? Has BP been indicted? Are the feds actually investigating BP to the point of having collected actual evidence, or are they just keeping themselves busy smearing the company?

seems like very similar behavior to the investigative mud slinging that certain congressmen are pissed about (and notably Rangel HAS been found to have violated ethics rules, so far BP hasn't been found guilty of anything)

reporters generally go through proper channels. and if they do stunts like that, the first thing they do is identify themselves. fail.

well, it remains to be seen if anything will happen. But I most certainly wouldn't discount it yet. Who knows what emails have been turned over and what they contain. My guess is you won't see anything happen until after the well is plugged.

well if Rangel broke the rules, then shame on him and let the chips lie where they fall.I liked Charlie Rangel, and if the charges are indeed true, I feel cheated. I have no problem with the body doing real investigative work and coming up with good casework against the defendant and making that public. its a parliamentary issue.

but lets not forget that 11 people died from the poor decision making taken by BP. again, if I am investigating the case, I am focusing my efforts onto how the decision was made to proceed after the test of the cement seal failed by natural gas bubbling up through it.

right- proper channels. paperwork. your mind can't grasp the concept of freelance, independent, or self employed. what *I* can't grasp, is why you are making excuses for what the congressman did.

as opposed to suggesting the CEO commit suicide? What about the many more than 11 people that have died as a result of congress' poor decision making and bad policies? This really isn't BP's fault- there have been major oil spills before. Congress let this slip through the cracks and is now trying to blame BP for it.

I'm afraid I don't understand why you think it should be harder for people to drag worthless congressmen through the mud, but it's perfectly OK to level similar critiques against productive companies and individuals, you know, ones that don't mooch off the taxpaying public and don't vote for a pay increase during the worst recession in 70 years

Proper channels?

Ever hear of "freedom of the press"?

Here is your "proper channels" for someone on a public street asking an elected official a simple question.

actually, the thing got everyone pissed off was that the special prosecutor DID go the paperwork route, with a presser and a public announcement and everything.

no. the proper channels IMO means you pick up the phone and talk to someone over there who is important enough. the information is sensitive. All he had to do was ask if the justice department was looking into company X. if they were, he had information for them about campaign contributions etc.

I don't agree with the suggestion for the CEO to commit suicide, I think that is unprofessional to say the least. But it is resonating with a lot of americans.

as far as the other stuff: do you have any civil engineering expertise?

I AM NOT SAYING IT SHOULD BE HARDER TO DRAG CONGRESSMEN THROUGH THE MUD.

jesus fucking christ.

well it certainly seems that way in some of the posts you've made re: the investigations
