Looks like BP has fucked the blue fin tuna

I have a good 10lbs of blue fin tuna in the fridge and cannot eat it because its too fatty

caught by a friend.

I used to go on those charters and whatever we caught we kept even if it was a huge one. He would take a portion though because he would deal with all the Japanese dudes on the docks waiting for the boats to pull up.

It's cool but they are really rare and it takes like 5 hours just to get them in the boat

and thats probably just the start of it. When the spill hits the Atlantic, who knows how many fisheries will be affected. A lot of fish larve will be wiped out.

The boat lost the case cause it was in the charter agreement that they keep the catch, which seems weird, but I guess its standard practice most places.

When I was a kid, we'd go to the Tuna tournament and they have a few 800lb fish come in. Don't see that so much anymore, definatly rare now.

lets say the blue fin tuna went extinct, although they wont, how would this affect your life? you ever seen one before or ate one? i dont care if a fish goes extinct.

It's only the start. The oil spill is going to rape everything for many many years to come

at thinking a single species of fish going extinct is going to affect anything. yeah man the ocean will just go into chaos and everything will die i dont know how anything is alive after the countless number of other species that have gone extinct thus far.

I watched a good episode of Scientic American with a Tuna segment.
People are putting pop up tags on them to see where they go.
The first fish they catch, they decide is too worn out from the fight, so they decide to keep it. lol

They also count the tuna in pictures taken from planes and stuff.

episode is online:
