madchem,

thanks but I dont think I can fork out that amount. The bike we wanted first was a 1098 but its to expensive.

cerberus,

We need a red one, but thanks, ill keep your offer in mind.

swifttiga,

Sounds intresting, I asked you how much you wanted for the bikes in another forum. Let me email them pictures of the bike to see if they're intrested.

*Edit: swift, you ducati is yellow. I need red.......

Thanks guys!

Have you thought it all through? I mean the Logistics of the whole thing, Sounds very expensive just to have this Rented bike shipped from place to place, then paying Rent on A Ducati for 45 days, Insurance,

sounds like you are opening a Big Can Of Worms...

Best Bet is like some stated earlier Buy a Used 1098 (Red), do your 45 day event, then Sell it,, Chances are you might get almost all your Money back...

good Luck.

On another viewpoint and under full control of the rum N diet, the subject of vehicles needed for an event often is intelligently addressed by need.

Case study: Oshkosh and the yearly EAA fly in.

Cars are naturally available through the rental agencies. But during this enthusiast time period at a price that can be likened to usury. Americans, dumb as we are, through conditioning pay this exhorbitant price. Fortunately I can commute as I live close and exhibit products there.

People from other countries flock to the mecca called Oshkosh and as everyone, need to get around from the venue to dinner and their temporary homes therefore need a car. Being astute, they ask themselves, 'why should I pay the phuck me price of $150 per day for a rental car that will only see 15 miles per day.'

They get there a day early and grab the local newspaper. They find the car ads and buy the cheapest $300 piece of junk they can find. Pay the seller and they're good to go. Buying a used car typically has X time left on the license plates so the cops won't even look. (think you can see where this is going) They'll drive it carefully to avoid accidents for the two weeks then abandon it at the OSH airport when the event closes.

In another week the true owner gets a call from the cops saying, 'we have this abandoned car under your name'. Where else can you rent a car for $21 per day?

The owner gets his car back free as he wises up and says it was stolen and the buyer can't be located anywhere in the country.

Not that you would do this but fugeddabowt the Ducati rental.

a realistic start would be DNA.Marketing ,co-promotion event.45days is a big shabang.Stranger things can happen.Once had a small advertising agency contact me.[had never heard of them before] and ended up renting them several cars, including my drivers for several days, and a very good earn..! hj

So basically it would be a bunch of noob riders at a company function who would be climbing aboard a bike and stripping the gears, potentially dropping the bike, or even (God forbid) have an accident? Seriously I doubt that there would be any Ducati owner on the planet who would jump at that unless it was a really really old bike and they were being paid a large amount of cash. If you are thinking that someone is going to rent you a 2008/2009 Duc for a few thousand dollars then that is insane. I wouldn't want a bike back that a bunch of dudes thrashed.

I would just shop around and buy a used 748 or 999 for $7500 to $8500, use it, and then sell it. That cost alone would be cheaper than renting one (if you could find someone who would even do it).

Evs,

There is a clean 2003 999 for sale over in Baltimore, MD that is red. He is asking $8500 out the door for it. You might check cycletrader for them. I noticed quite a few 999s in red for sale around the East Coast for really good prices. You could buy the bike and then re-sell it to a dealership with a very very minimal loss if you want to get rid of it---or just sell it outright.

Also, I wasn't trying to me a smart-arse about people leasing you a bike. The big problem with lending someone a bike is the high potential for them to do damage to it. I don't even let my friends go around the block on mine. Must Duck guys are probably like me, very anal about the bike given we just went out and plunked down big cash for a bike. In this day and age, $15K for a luxury toy isn't cheap.

I hope this helps....seriously though, just buy a cheap one, use it, and then sell it to a dealer.
