Looking to buy a monitor: Help me choose between Samsung T240HD and P2370HD?

Hi,

I'm looking at monitors and debating between two models:
1) Samsung T240HD
2) Samsung P2370HD

I have two questions. First, which one would you recommend and why?

Second: I don't understand how contrast ratio work and what are the difference between the two. The P2370HD has DC 50000:1 (1000:1) and the T240HD has DC 10000:1 (1000:1). Can somebody explain what that means?
