Well, all I can seem to remember about this book is that some woman was found by either the man or one or his two sons....This woman contracted yellow fever from the time she spent wandering near the Mississippi River near New Orleans....After being given little hope of her recover the man decides to take over her care himself and ends up dousing himself and her in water he uses to bring her fever down....This is all I can remember so if anyone recognizes what I've written here and can help me out I would really appreciate it....Unfortunately, I only read this book once a couple years ago and want to read it again and I'm a little desperate.....Thanks
I have been doing a little research myself and have run into all of these books myself...None of them are the book I'm looking for however....Thanks anyway...Hopefully, someone who has read this book will see this question and be able to readily answer it....I think the book began with the woman in the story wandering around the humid shore complaining about all the mosquitos bitting her....(this is how she got yellow fever) Hopefully, this minor detail will help some...Thanks for all your help.
