Looking for the BEST camera phone

I'm tired of having mediocre camera phones, and I dont feel like carrying a phone and a digital.

I'm looking for a phone with a great camera in light and dark places (clubs, late night at some girl's house)

Thing is I'm looking for a great camera phone but something not to bulky.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Great cameras usually come with a bulky phone, the exception is the SE K750i/W810i.

If you want the best, look at the SE K800, Sharp 903/904, Samsung P850 or if you have Verizon the Samsung A990.

You could also wait for the D900 to come out (from Samsung), it'll have a 3.2mp autofocus camera in a VERY thin package (I think 12.99mm).

Also, don't expect good performance at night from ANY camera phone

I'm looking for a gsm camera phone (i have cingular), also something that wont be outdated in a year and is quad band.

Plus I know you cant get a very good image in the dark but some phones have a pretty good flash that gets you by.

I'm just looking for a great camera phone and maybe throw some tunes on it.

I have a SLVR L7 now but I want a full featured phone for once. (Even though the L7 is great to just put in your pocket and forget about it.)

i've limited my search to the w810i and maybe wait for the samsung d900.

Anyone have any idea how good samsung camera phones are? (at night and day)

best would be either the Sony Ericsson K800 or the Sharp 903. those are with out a doubt the best cameras on any GSM phone to date...

but unfortunatly sometimes triband phones dont work well in certain areas if you have cingular. tell us where you live, and then we will be able to know if you need a quadband phone or not.

Since you have Cingular wait for the SE K790a to come out (Basically same as K800 with the 3.2MP Cam but includes the 850Mhz band). It has the XENON flash and from the night pictures Ive seen using the flash...their actually not all that bad...(decent)

Cingular has some good prices on their website. I too am with cingular and when you type in the zip code, it doesn't have to be yours, just one in your area. The Cingular clerk told me that. They also offer instant discounts, and mail in rebates. I just bought 3. I don't like a 2 year contract, but with ins. I don't plan on buying another phone for a while. The Sony Ericson 610i even came with all the accessories, unlike the other phones. It has a walkman, plus multiple other features. I am still out on this purchase, Just got it yesterday and the only thing I don't like is the swing arm, instead of the flip phone, but I got one for my son and he loves it.

I have the SE w800i on T-Mobile in Northern California. Lack of an 850 band can be a pain sometimes, even in certain parts of urban areas (San Francisco, East Bay area). The camera is excellent in great natural light, but definitely disappointing in low-light conditions including many indoor locations -- restaurants, bars, etc. that are slightly "dim" are definitely "low light" when it comes to taking pics with this camera. The camera light on the phone is not a flash and doesn't act like a flash -- it helps light indoor pictures, but at the expense of inaccurate colors and saturation.

Don't get me wrong -- this is still an awesome camera as far as mobile phones go. The walkman music player is excellent and while you have to use the sony adapter, you can plug whatever phones you want into it or run it through a home/car stereo. It sounds as good as my iPod side-by-side with the same high quality earphones; the phones that come with the phone are 300% better than the stock iPod earbuds, actually.

But don't expect it to take that many indoor photos worth keeping - especially "late night at some girls house", even with the fake flash on.

The new sonys (K800/790) with 3mp cameras have an actual xenon flash which, from the reviews I've read, do a lot more to help with low/bad lighting. I'd agree with a2kt1c that you should wait for the k790a to come out to get the quad band, though it's going to cost you a pretty penny. Otherwise, look at the w810i.

I was interested in the Nokia e70 since it has 2mp, qwerty, and wi-fi, but I've read that the camera underperforms for a 2mp. Samsung p850 is out now with a 3mp but it looks pretty bulky. Nokia n80 has 3mp and wi-fi but I've heard mixed things about it, and it's very pricey. Sharp 903 is often touted as the holy grail of 3mp camphones, but it goes for $425+ on ebay.

Maybe now that Verizon has a 3mp Samsung out, T-Mob or Cingular will pick up the k790a to compete ... but I wouldn't bet on it. I used to have Cingular and got so tired of their BS customer service and absurd phone upgrade prices that I jumped ship. Picked up the w800i with T-Mob service from an independent dealer. Much better deal than T-Mob had on any less appealing phones.

do you have any idea how big that phone is? ive seen the nokia n90 in a store, it was f*ckin huge, the n93 is bigger, cant imagine how big it is... but truth be told, it has a badass camera.
