Looking for Phone for my sister -- ATT

Hi, my sister's Samsung Eternity broke down a few months ago, and she has been using my T-Mobile Dash for the last month or so. I couldn't seem to get my Tilt to work for her (it didn't recognize her SIM card). I'm thinking about buying a phone. The most important features are cheap (looking to pay more or less $100), and it has to have 3G which is covered under the $15 dollar plan--not the Smartphone plan. A touch screen would be nice since she's acclimated to one.

I'm considering the Nokia 5230 Unlocked Smartphone because I see it for $115. It's a little below her Eternity, but I read it will not be charged the Smartphone data plan, so I figured it would be a good choice.

I would really appreciate any help on this.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "block the internet." Why would she block it? Or do you mean the seller? Or our provider?

If you bought an unlocked phone, you would have to enter the AT&T web settings before it could connect to the internet. If you never enter those settings, you can't get online, even by accident. Therefore, you can call AT&T and drop your data plan. Like you said, that would only work on an unlocked/unbranded phone that AT&T doesn't currently offer.

The nokia should be a good phone. You can do a lot with that phone with the os. It should be better than her old eternity as I don't believe that it was a smartphone.

I did not know that. Thanks for that information. Do you think I can call ATT and tell them to drop the last few months of data connection charges also because my sister was not able to connect to the internet because her phone broke?

Her Eternity's touchscreen is pretty much unusable, and she managed to get water damage on it, so she can't use it. I don't think the Nokia is technically labeled a smartphone... is it? I know the Eternity wasn't.
