looking for loud and sq subwoofer?

So right now I have a 12" kicker l7 and it sounds really muddy. I'm looking for similar kick as this sub but i also want much more quality than the current setup. It has great low end output but the upper sounds seem to lack similar punch to them.

Normally, I listen to rock and rap, so Im not looking only for a subwoofer thats got a quick punch to it but also a good output when playing hiphop.

I'm looking for a pair of ten's, a pair of twelve's, or just one twelve. I know sensitivity plays a huge role as well but with so many brands out there it's hard to choose. Budget is around $300-$350 for the subs and box.

the money can be increased but i don't wish to put more than $500 into it
 
My adivce is either go with JL or Rockford Fosgate

I personally have two rockford fosgate P3's and they have so much more clarity than kickers Ive heard, and their LOUD too. Rockford Fosgates will probably give you the best sound clarity along with the punch your looking for. Make sure you get the P3's tho, not P2 or P1. And you can definetly get 2 12's of those for around 300

Now if your wanting a bit more kick but still the clarity, you can go with the JL's. And for JL you wanna go with the 12" W7's. Some of the loudest subs ive ever heard. friend of mine has them.
Those will be a lil bit more pricy tho
