Funny I was just thinking of you....Congrats on your son's wedding...How exciting.....And you danced 2 dances.that's AMAZING.....Good for you...ANd your vacation sounRAB like it was great.

I have hit a rough patch...It was 4 months last Friday...Being back at work this past month has been exhausting...and of course ran me down and now I have a bad cold.....The pain in my groin...that feels like a muscle strain can also be nerve pain..this was the hip w/ the graft...I now feel a buzzing in my crotch area..(wish it felt good) and I still get nurabess in toes in BOTH feet.

Spoke to the surgeon's nurse as did my PT.....They (Dr's office) wants me to lay off the PT for a week....which I hesitate to do....I feel like I'll lose momentum...trying to get an appt. with Dr. when he's here in CT office next week..

I'm SO DISCOURAGED..and depressed...Cried like a baby tonight. feel ther should be light at the end of this nightmare..I have been trying so hard w/ PT...and walking 20 minutes EVERY day...Even in today's heat..

I wonder if all the sitting at work is hurting me....I have SO much on my plate there and the stress is killing me....I have to come up w/ a better plan and cut back again to fewer hrs...they are very demanding and everyone forgets what I just went thru....

Please someone tell me what I'm feeling can be TEMPORARY.

As for the new man....although we had a nice several dates there was really no spark, and with my lack of energy and motivation it just faded. he's also unfortunately dealing w/ daughter w/ a severe drug problem..I feel so bad for him.

Sorry to sound so down.....So happy to hear you turned the corner...:):):)

Hi LAF ~

Just wondered how PT was coming along for you. I am still going twice per week and I have to say, I still give her credit for trying new and different things every week. She is determined to get to the bottom of whatever is causing my pain.

How is work going? Are you still working half days? And what about Mr. Wonderful? Have we had any further "dates??"

I haven't posted much lately as the wedding grows very near. And to make matters worse, my husband and I have to attend a meeting, leaving next Sat. and returning home on Wed. My daughter flies in that day for the wedding, and all our other relatives come the next day!! So I basically just have a few days to get the house clean. (forget it...it's not going to happen!! I just don't have the strength. I tried planting my pots around the yard, terrace and deck and that just about put me back in the hospital, even though I was trying to be "careful.":(:( So the yard will look nice, even though the house is a disaster. Right now I still have my bed in the den!!

Hope you are making fabulous progress. I am eager for an update!!

MM you are SO clever...loved your thread post.......

Sorry I haven't posted much either, juggling work and PT has been challenging to say the least..I try to go to the office only 5 hrs..and get swallowed up w/ work...we have so many events to plan and I had to prepare for new boss coimng this Tues...

PT has been good...He's pushing me too...Feeling much better doing slight "bridges..raising the hips a bit while laying on the floor. Up to 10 minutes on bike and all kinRAB of other things....My left groin /inner thigh strain persists..and I feel like my gait (spelling?) is off...Maybe my imagination.SOmetimes after getting up from bed that left leg feels like it can buckle under me.....A bit frustrating...but better that that original pain...right???

Sorry to hear your pain persists too....My Pt when I described the creepy crawlers in my calves he said "I'm not worried about that" I guess we still have bigger fish to fry.

WOW...you did all your pots...proud of you.....I did a few and it is EXHAUSTING...SounRAB like it's beautiful outside out in your garden/deck.....So keeps the guests out there and keep the cocktails coming...No one will notice a little dust inside and they'll understand all you've been through.

Yes saw "the man" last night...it's going well...He's a great guy..Thanks for remerabering...Hoping to hear from Diet soon...haven't seen a recent post..She has been so strong and helpful to all...Wishing her a solution soon.

Have a great hoilday...When is the wedding again? If we don't chat..Hope all goes well...don't get too stressed and ENJOY>>>>>>>>>>

Hi LAF,

I am wearing a TENS unit, hoping to scrarable the nerve pain signals that are being sent to my thighs. So far, I don't think it is working. It is frustrating when I feel like I was better before I started all this stuff in PT!! And she keeps trying different things.

The wedding is June 7th. But we're going o be out of town from the 31st to the 4th so I lose all that time. And I swear, PT just eats up so much time.

I'm glad you are able to get to work and to PT and back home again. And very happy to hear that "the man" is still in the picture. He sounRAB like a nice guy.

Must go attempt to get something done. My husband didn't go into the office today so I should take advanage of his help while I have it.

Check in when you can!!

Hi Laf ~(and Spiney frienRAB),

I had Pt today and the lady that has been working on me since April is sending me to someone else on Friday. She is out of ideas and thinks a new pair of eyes may help.

The wedding is weekend after next and I am getting worse instead of better. I want to be able to walk and stand at the ceremony and reception....She suggested an ESI or maybe a course of prednisone in an attempt to get me better for the festivities, but I am really reluctant to try either of those options, particularly the ESI.

I think what we're doing is causing inflammation, and thus, the pain. She doesn't disagree, but feels that just letting me do "nothing" is not an acceptable alternative.

How are you doing? Do you feel like you're making progress? How is it at work? Do you need special ergonomic stuff to make yourself comfortable?

Cheers!!

Gee, I was thinking my surgery had been 6 months ago, but it was 5 months ago tomorrow.

Do you feel you are doing something in PT that is aggravating the groin pain? I know you have been complaining about it since the beginning, right? I have heard that the pain from the graft can be worse than the actual surgery. Probably some nerve got aggravated during the harvesting process and it will take awhile to work it out.

I think 4 months was about when I was so discouraged. I hope you can see the surgeon. I have seen mine a nuraber of times and it always makes me feel better, even though he always said the same thing to me. "You had a BIG surgery. Patience...it will take time to heal...think how you were when you walked into the hospital..." You know, that sort of sentiment.

Today as I walked to the mailbox to get the mail, I thought about how a couple months ago I was driving to the mailbox!! I know you have come a long way too. You've just hit a bump in the road. I'm sure work and the stress don't do you any good. I was lucky in that I could just relax and do whatever I wanted when I was feeling down...which included sleeping all day, if that's what I felt like.

What you're feeling is all perfectly normal...there are just ups and downs in the process.

I hope you are feeling a bit better in the morning.

Hang in there!!

xx M;)M

Thanks MM....for always being there...Heading to sleep early..it's been almost 100 degrees here today.........Tomorrow I plan on having a manicure and pedicure in the morning before heading to work late...and NOT feeling quilty.

Thanks much for your kind worRAB...and continued (4 weeks ahead of me)experience reports.... Yes it might be too much PT...Trying to just walk more..

So happy to hear that you're making real progress...That's fabulous:):)

Hi LAF ~

Just checking in to see how you are doing?? Do you feel like you're making progress with PT? How many weeks are you out now from surgery?

I increased my level of activity HUGELY over the past 9 days, by necessity. My son was married last night and we hosted the rehearsal dinner the night before and I was on my feet quite a lot. Needless to say, I didn't spend the night on the dance floor, but I did make it through my "required" two dances.

The previous weekend my husband and I were on an island where cars are not allowed. I walked farther than I have in about 2 years...and I'm happy to report that there have been no ill effects.

So I feel like I am progressing. It just takes a good long time...and the road is full of bumps!!

Please post and let me know what's going on with you. How are you functioning at work? Have you seen "the man" again??

xx M:)M

Hi LAF ~

Did you melt yet? I think the heat wave was supposed to break today. All this weather is so weird. Did I mention that the tornedo sirens went off about 15 minutes before the wedding was to begin? We were having hot, sticky weather and then hard driving rains. You may have seen the video of houses washing away in the central part of Wisconsin.

I had PT today. What type of things is your guy doing with you? Does it change from session to session? I am learning so much about muscle structure and how mine learned to compensate; how I use my back muscles in place of my abs, because my abs and pelvic floor muscles were so weak, etc.

I hope you are feeling better today. I'm sure the finger and toe pampering has helped you to feel more like yourself. If you continue to feel kind of overwhelmed, you might want to ask your doc for a mild anti-depressant. It can really help with the healing and sometimes with the pain, too.

Hey Miss Laurinda,

I hope the fact that you haven't posted recently doesn't mean that your pain is still really bad and that you are still discouraged.

My PT has me wearing a light brace that looks like a pair of suspenders with a part that wraps around my waist. It is designed to create better posture. I had been compensating so long due to the pain I had that I feel like I am almost tipping backwarRAB when I "stand up straight." The PT thinks this will help retrain me so that the proper posture feels normal to me...and that this will aid the nerve root and keep me from getting the weird nerve pain in the front of my thighs.

Every time I go to PT it is a new experience. Are you finding that, too? I hope you are having a positive experience. If not, you should look for another physical therapist. I had no idea how much difference it can make. I feel very blessed to have found my lady.

Write when you can. I think of you often, wondering how you are coming along.
