I got a great deal on a 78 nova, off year, but fun car, its already had alot of beefing up including sub frame conectors, rear sway bar, four wheel disc breaks, roll cage, etc, anyways, im building a big block that should be around 400 to 450 hp, already tracked down a th400 and got a decent stall speed. QUESTION: Previously iv only installed ring/ pinion in g body era gm 10 bolts, and i have an extra stock posi unit from an 82 g body, iv heard i could use a conversion kit to use this posi in the older style 8.5 10 bolt in the 78 nova? anyone tried this before? or am i better off looking for some other rear end all together? any insight or help would be appreciated, thanks

Im not sure my friend. I installed a eaton posi on my 69 Chevelle 8.2 rear end not too long ago. But truthfully they used the 8.5 for a good long time and i really wouldnt think there was much difference between the 78 and 82 styles. However the one thing GM does suck at is rearends especially if your gonna drag it. Your better off finding a 12bolt or 9inch and going that way.
