First off i am 17 years old i am a senior and am looking to buy my first car.
-My budget is limited i have about 8,000 from my parents
-all prices are not including plates, or tags
-I am not willing to purchase a car that has over 85,000 miles
-my parents do not know anything about cars/how to fix them
- I live on Long island and only will be driving locally for my last year of high school
I am currently looking into buying a 2004 Mitsubishi galant it has the 09 body type to it which is what draws me to it. The car has 66k miles and looks good. I had a mechanic check it out and everything is fine. The owner is asking $7200. #1 do you think i can get her to go lower? how much lower? My second dilemma is #2 do you think the car will last me through the next four years of college? which will be 2014 making the car turn 10 years old.
My other option is to finance a 9,000 car that is relatively newer like a 2007, 2008 and it will have lower miles.
# What would you do in my situation? What should i do? Do you have any different suggestions?
