5.0 out of 5 stars Docsis3.0 for Comcast (in southern MA) Ultra High Speed Internet, May 5, 2009
By Falcon999 "Ron" (Rhode Island/Massachusetts)
When we recently upgraded our southern MA Comcast service to the Ultra/Premium HS Internet, Comcast tech said we had to replace former self-owned Motorola docsis2.0 cable modem with this rental docsis3.0 model to handle the new bandwith and speed.
We have a gigabit router (d-link 655) directing traffic between two hard-wired desktops with gigabit NIC's and one wireless-G laptop.
Has worked flawlessly since March 25, 2009. File downloads really fly, even when downloading on multiple PC's at same time, but some busy web-sites still poke along (probably they are not yet upgraded to docsis3.0 on their end (or have bandwidth limiters)- so we can only get data as fast as they are transmitting).
5.0 out of 5 stars Great cable modem, May 9, 2009
By Tman "Tman" (Seattle, WA)
This modem replaced my old surfboard 5100. Download and upload speeds have at least doubled. Comcast tech said it is a very good modem. It took time for them to activate it on their end, but after that, I received pleasing results.
2.0 out of 5 stars Probably Very Good - But not supported by Cox Phoenix., April 9, 2009
By R. Holgate (Mesa, AZ)
I'm sure this is a very good product, but neither Motorola or Cox Phoenix are willing to help actually use the product, so unfortunately this review cannot be better.
The Issue - This modem is not supported by Cox (Phoenix Metro) as they do not believe it has even been launched yet. Having gone through several departments at Cox they were unable to initialize the modem for use with their service, as the modem is not on the master list in their system.
Motorola are unwilling to contact Cox in order to assist resolve the issue, so I am going to be forced to return this one to the store (Not Amazon) from which it was purchased.
Good luck with this and your service provider.
